curl works when testing JSON response but the functional and integration tests do not work.
I am trying to test an action which is supposed to give a json
response The url goes something line /blah/model.json
When I POST to that URL using curl like this
curl -H "Content-Type:application/json" -H "Accept:appn/json" -d
"data" http://localhost:3000/blah/model.json it works just fine.
In my test functional test I have this method

JSON output replacing & with "\u0026 "
Hi,
I''m outputting some database objects as static JSON files using a stand
along ruby script.rb, that other could run outside of my rails app. When
I use this script, the output replaces "&" with "\u0026." If I use the
same code to output my JSON files in console, it outputs fine.
I imagine there is some gem or something I''m not including in my

Could someone please demonstrate the code to send both json (or xml) AND
javascript (to be executed) in a single Ajax request?
Is this even possible?

"best practices" for Rails serving RESTful JSON services for use by AngularJS, Ember.js, etc.
I''ve been writing a gem to implement and extend common controller
functionality so that Rails can be used with Javascript frameworks like
AngularJS (which we are using), Ember.js, etc. in such a way that the user
doesn''t have to tweak a a bunch of rails g controller boilerplate code to
provide services for use in these frameworks that in turn would require
various changes to

JSON PUT/POST/UPDATE
Hey all... I''m building a RESTful JSON API and I find myself writing
this:
JSON.parse(request.body.read)
...over and over in every controller action that accepts JSON in the
request body (which is a lot of actions).
Does rails have a better built-in way to keep the code more DRY? Or
should I solve that somehow myself?
Thanks,

cookie has key/value pairs and lost order after JSON decode
If a cookie has several items, and is encoded as JSON text as the value
of the cookie, the order is actually apparent in the cookie''s text
But if JSON.decode is used:
ActiveSupport::JSON.decode(cookies[''item_list''])
and the result is actually in a hash, then the ordering is lost...
Is it true that if the original JSON object has an array of hashes (1

I thought Rails 3.2 ActionController automatically converts JSON params hashes...
Hey,
I was thinking I''d have my controllers do double-duty: the same actions
handling json and html requests differentially. For this, it''s useful that
Rails 3.2 automatic params hash conversion from json work (as described here<http://guides.rubyonrails.org/v3.2.13/action_controller_overview.html#json-xml-parameters>in the Rails docs). (I''m using ruby 1.9.2.)

Rails 3 basic Get JSON with jQuery and output on the page flow question
Rails newbie, thanks for help with this hopefully basic JSON type
question....
I have a model Books in my app, which belong_to users.
What''d I''d like to learn how to do, is use jQuery to get a JSON object
of the books that the user owns (current_user). And then use jQuery to
list the results out on a div (id=targetdiv).
Where I''m not certain, is this something Rails 3

ActiveSupport 2.3.5 and json 1.2.0 gem
Hey,
I''ve tried every trick I can find, yet I''m still unable to get the
json gem and ActiveSupport to play nice.
No matter in which order I load json and active support, I still end
up with: NoMethodError: undefined method `[]'' for
#<JSON::Ext::Generator::State:0x104b7fac0>
I''m trying to use the JSON object directly, *not* as a ActiveSupport backend:

Rails - JSON object with an array?
Hello, I''m able to create and send a JSON object like so:
@mylist << {
:id => item.id,
:name => name.id
}
render :json => { :result => ''success'', :mylist => @mylist }
That works great. Problem I''m having now is that I need to include
users which can be 1 or users per item.

Security - How to sanizitize JSON?
Hi, I''m on Rails 3.2.8 and one of my apps sends some json to create DB
objects. What''s the best way to sanitize json?
I found this post claiming that for json we need to escape manually
since json_escape is broken:
http://blog.bigbinary.com/2012/05/10/xss-and-rails.html
I tried using the sanitize gem (https://github.com/rgrove/sanitize/) but
when using it on a json string it

Get the current user as Json with Devise
Hi!
I use Devise and Basic HTTP Authentication to access user areas from a
mobile app. When the user enters its details in the app and it tries to
"login" (you don''t actually login with basic auth as you send the
credentials with each request) I want to get a response back with the user
info, like user ID, email (not password) etc.
- So, is there a way to do this out of

q@ request.request_method=='OPTIONS', ajax, post json
hi
im reading through the topic above and trying to apply it to my app.
as reference i found:http://leopard.in.ua/2012/07/08/using-cors-with-rails/
my prob is that i dont see the ''preflight'', meaning the first request
prior the actual post, which should(?) deliver this:
request.request_method==''OPTIONS''

application/json request defaults?
I ran into a strange problem when moving a locally working app to a
hosted server.
We have a phone app sending json requests via POST to the rails app.
When doing this on the local system everything comes through as
application/json
When I moved it to the host I was having Authenticity Token errors. I
realized that our phone app was not setting the correct content-type
to application/json
