Integrating polymorphic models into controllers views? how?
I''m having trouble trying to get this to work.
How the heck do you get a polymorphic controller to work? Especially
integrating it with a view?
Let''s say that we have shows, and episodes, then comments.
A show has many episodes, an episode has many comments.
the route is /shows/1/episodes/1/
Now to add a comment to that episode, how would I do it? Let''s say

Adding routes and link_to
Hello.
I''ve added some routes :
map.news ''news'', :controller => :News, :action =>:index
map.login ''login'', :controller => :Login , :action =>:index
When I go to /news or /login before adding the routes, it works well.
When I add the routes and clik on the link that goes to /news or /
login, I got a 500 internal error with this :

Spring Cleaning
Right now in my view, I have a whole HUGE clump of
<% if current_user %> and then <% if current_admin %> and then <% if
current_teacher %> and then all that other stuff in my view.
I have a ginourmous chunk of if and else statements in my views... is
there a way to make it prettier? The if and else''s almost all have the
same functions, expect for some minor changes.

Accessing the router from a helper
I find manually accessing the router to be quite ugly below. Is there
a more direct way to access it?
module ApplicationHelper
def menu_item text, url = nil
routes = ActionController::Routing::Routes
url = if url
if url.is_a? String
url
else
routes.generate url
end
else
routes.generate :controller

Conditionally adding a link to a form -- how?
I''ve got two entities created by scaffolding: Expense & Vendor
In Expense#new there''s a form with a Vendors-drop-down and a NewVendor-
button.
The latter button brings up Vendor#new.
The Create button in Vendor#new brings up Vendor#show with Edit & Back
links.
I want to append a third link conditionally to Vendor#show: if the
Expense#new form led to the Vendor#show

[cucumber] Nested resource in paths.rb
Hello Rspec Users,
I was wondering how you specify a nested resource in cucumber. So for
example:
Given I have a blogpost titled Question For Nice Rspec Users
When I am on the list of comments for Question For Nice Rspec Users
Then I should see "Answer"
Now, as one might expect, blogpost has_many :comments, so my question is
this:
How should I write the "when-case" for

Encoding problems, applying a patch, how to???
So, i''m facing issues with encoding, since I need to write an
application in portuguese-brazilian.
This is the error i''m getting: "incompatible character encodings:
UTF-8 and ASCII-8BIT"
The curious thing is that i have a few other views with "special"
characters, like Á or Ç, and all of them works. I have saved this view
using the UTF-8 char encoding and

How do I force link_to/form helpers to use the superclass name in the path instead subclass?
I want my helpers to generate paths using a superclass instead of the
subclasses. Assuming I have Owner and Member that both inherit from User,
rails will use the current objects class name when generating paths:
Let''s say current_user is a mod: <%= link_to current_user.name,
current_user %> will generate "/mod/:id". I want to force it to generate
