sport.db - A Free Open Sports Database & Schema (Football Fixtures & More)
Hello,
I''ve extracted from the Sportbook (formerly Wettpool)[1] the
football fixtures for easy reuse.
The open sports database[2] also includes a little command line tool
(Ruby gem), that is, sportdb
and a sample web admin tool[3] in Ruby on Rails.
Events in the sport.db include
- the Champions League 2012/13,
- Euro 2012,
- World Cup Quali and others.
Add yours.

Newbie: ''find'' across multiple relationships
For security purposes, I often want to find objects that are ''visible''.
e.g.
class Person < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :x
end
...
@person.x.find(params[:id]) as opposed to X.find([params[:id]). Simple
enough for me.
My question:
Say we have -
class Person < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :x, :class_name ''Z'', ....
has_many :y, :class_name

Modelling Relationships as objects
DHH in Rails Confeerence pointed out that abstract relationships should be
converted into concrete objects, CRUDying up relationships.
An example would be
class User < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :subscriptions
has_many :news_categories, :through => :subscriptions
end
class NewsCategory < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :subscriptions
has_many :users, :through => :subscriptions

REST - Implementing HABTM in the real world
Hi again - another REST question!
I think I''ve got a good grasp on it all now, except for how to
implement HABTM properly. I understand you need turn the join model
into a controller, such as ''memberships'' below, and then use CRUD on
that to perform joining actions.
class Group < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :memberships
has_many :users, :through =>

forms and relationships
i''m still pretty new to rails, and while i''ve been able to hack my way
into having it do what i want so far, i''m not happy with the way my code
looks. on top of that, i''m sure that what i''m doing prlly isn''t the most
efficient either.
one of my biggest problems is probably to do with using relationships
and forms together. i''ve

Data source for American college football rankings?
An interesting, and topical, example of multivariate data for
classroom illustrations are the American college football rankings.
Starting at the end of October (or "week 8", the 8th week of the
football season) a set of rankings called the BCS (Bowl Championship
Series) will be published. This is a composite ranking based on two
subjective polls, the Harris and USA Today polls, and a

How to declare several HABTM-relationships?
Hello,
Is it possible to have several HABTM-relationships for the same object?
Example: Imagine I have 3 objects (classroom, student, teacher) and
define the associations for the student as:
class Student < ActiveRecord::Base
has_and_belongs_to_many :classrooms
has_and_belongs_to_many :teachers
class Classroom < ActiveRecord::Base
has_and_belongs_to_many :students
class Teacher <

Multiple HABTM relationships with self ???
I need to have a table related to itself via a join table. Will HABTM
support this? That is:
class Recipe < ActiveRecord::Base
has_and_belongs_to_many :recipes, :join_table => "recipes_recipes"
end
More importantly -- how does RoR support MULTIPLE self-joins? I.e., to
relate the table to itself via multiple join tables.
SFAIK, HABTM won''t support multiple

Football Manager 2007 running very slowly
Hi all,
I have a problem running Football Manager 2007.
The game's match mode consists of an almost full-screen, almost-2D animation of the match. 10-15mins into the game this animation slows down to the point of making the game unplayable.
The specs of my machine are above the requirements by a factor of 3-5 and so far I have been unable to identify any hardware bottlenecks. The only thing

I am trying to install Football Manager 2009 Demo.
The file can be downloaded here:

The shell output is as follows:
