Converting hash to option string
Is there a good way to programmatically convert {:a=>''b'', :c=>''d''} to ''a=b c=d'' ? Rails seems to do this knid of thing "all over the place". I see reverse_merge and similar functions ... but I wonder if this is canned behavior somewhere. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. -- You received this message because you

recursive expansition of <% ... %>
In a controller I have @message = "The size is <% @a.size %>." In the view I have <%= @message %> which, sadly, produces The size is <% @a.size %>. rather than, say, The size is 4. How to override generated in validation html code?
Hi, I would like to ask how to override validation functionality in RoR? In active_record_helper.rb class there is "hardcoded" default html generated durning validation. If I will use {code:ruby} validates_presence_of :summary, :description {code} in my model class, there is html generated: {code:html} <div class="errorExplanation"

How do you update HABTM relationships or create.
Hi, I have a User model with a HABTM relation to a Role model and vice versa. So There''s a roles_users table that references :user and :role. I''m using formtastic, and in the user.edit.html.erb I have a line that outputs the roles as a multi-select list box. But the box is not showing the roles that have been assigned to the users. Another problem is that if I select a few

Double render/redirect philosophy
Ok, I think I understand why RoR will flag an attempt double render in an action. What I don''t understand is the philosophy of render and redirect_to. Specifically, why isn''t a return implicit in both those methods? Or, I guess, more to the point ... what are the advantages of writing code in the action after a render/redirect_to? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --

How do i switch off error wrapping for a specific field?
Hi, i have some issues with the default rails error wrapping. It wraps errors in a div with class ''fieldsWithError'', which is not good practice in my eyes. Adding a class ''error'' to the field would be much nicer. My solution to the problem: build your own FormBuilder. Funny enough, i found no (nice) possibility to switch error wrapping off while using the

Formtastic and Access to Variables of Nested Model
So I''m not even sure if I''ll be able to properly explain what I''m trying to do, but I''ll do my best. Let''s say that I have two models: Document and Option. A Document has many Options (and, by extension, an Option belongs to a Document). Each document may have a different number of options, hence why I made it a separate model. Each document has the
