Clearing out filters in ActionController
I want to run a single filter in my application.rb file, and then if a
certain condition is true, end the action''s processing immediately.
Right now I''m using prepend_before_filter to ensure that it gets run
first, but some of my around_filters are still being processed. Is
there a way that I can clear out all the filters that should be run?
Basically it''ll look

STI with_scope on parent - bug or feature?
Hi,
It seems that setting a with_scope on the parent class doesn''t do anything
MyClass.with_scope(:find=>{:conditions=> ["somecol = ?", ''val'']}) do
@ext_pages, @ext_rows = paginate :my_extended_class, {
:per_page => 13
}
end
# this doesn''t generate WHERE somecol=''val''
In order for scope to work you have to call

Rails Plugin: meantime_filter for controllers (actions within blocks)
Hello, I just finished writing a plugin for Rails that I''m annoucing
the first release here: meantime_filter.
It is descibed at http://roman2k.free.fr/rails/meantime_filter/0.1.0/
rdoc/
(See the end of this message for getting it.)
ABOUT THE PLUGIN
It extends ActionController to add the functionnality of having
filters run at the action call time. This new type of filter yields

Controller spec: testing that scope is set
In a Rails controller I set the scope on a model class in an around
filter. I have defined expectations on the model classes, and ideally, I
would add a further expectation for the scope. Is this already possible
in some way? How would I go about adding support a scope expectation?

cache and exception safe around_filter (after_filter)
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a feature or construct in rails that is
guaranteed to run after an action like an around_filter (or
after_filter) but will still run regardless of a broken filter chain or
thrown exception?
Currently I have an around filter setup, and I really require the after
part of the filter to run, although if the filter chain is broken via
cacheing or an exception is

So how can I rewrite my app without using with_scope?
So, I hear that with_scope is going to be deprecated.
Which is a bit of a shame, given the stuff I''ve been writing recently.
I have a CMS with multiple clients. A ''client'' is essentially a
company, with multiple users. Content on the site belongs to a client
- content could be messages, images, schedules, etc etc. People
belonging to one client should not be able

[PATCH] (+tests) with_scope :order doesn''t work with included associations
(I''ve had this patch lying around for a couple of weeks, waiting for
Trac to come back up. noradio''s already had a look at it on IRC.
What''s the best way to submit patches while Trac is down?)
with_scope doesn''t support :order in the presence of :include. For

def my_answers(whodunnit)
chosen_answers.with_scope(:find => { :conditions => [ "votes.created_by=?", whodunnit ] }) do

EdgeRails with_scope and :select
>From what i can gather the with_scope feature doesn''t allow you to
specify which columns get selected. It appears to default to "*". So
if i specify something like:
Question.with_scope( :find => {
:from => "questions q, answers a",
:conditions => "q.owner = a.owner AND a.owner=1"
}) do
...
end
I''ll generate SQL like:
SELECT *

with_scope and filters for Rails 1.1 (scoped_access plugin)
Has anyone successfully gotten the scoped_access[1] plugin to work in
Rails 1.1? Some of the methods it was relying on are now no longer
accessible. It seems the only way to add scope is to use the
''with_scope'' method that takes a block, but since Rails doesn''t have
real around filters[2] I cannot see a way of adding a scope using a
filter.
Anyone using with_scope

using restful_authentication current_user inside controller specs
I''m using restful_authentication in my app and I have the before filters in
my application rhtml:

around_filter :catch_errors
Currently I have them commented out while rspec''in but I''ll need to add them
in my specs.

Anything like with_scope for ActionController?
There are areas of my application that "want" to use a url structure
like
domain/<human_readable_param>/<Module>/<Controller>/<Action>/<Id>
Please note that the human readable parameter I need to inject is NOT
related to the <id> being used by the action/controller pair. It''s
identifying a container object whose contains are operated

Hi
It would seem that the scoped_access plugin from

is incompatible with Rails 2.0.2.

Secure but elegant destruction method
Hi,-
I am looking for a clean and secure way for an ActiveRecord instance to
delete itself. Say I have a User model in my app. Then the destructive
action would be /users/user_id/destroy. If this action is not secured by
a filter like:
(*) before_filter :check_administrator_role, :only => :destroy
then any user could potentially log in and start issuing:
/users/1/destroy
/users/2/destroy
.
