will_paginate vs mislav-will_paginate
I''ve just reinstalled linux (9.10) and am trying to match my gem
environment to our server''s. I''m having a problem with will_paginate.
On the server, under gem list, i have "mislav-will_paginate (2.3.6)".

empty rails log folder
The rails log folder is in my .gitignore file. That means the log
folder is not in the repository. When I deploy my rails app to the
staging server via git pull, the app refuses to work because it does
not see a log folder. I have to manually create an empty log folder
for it to put log files such as acts_as_ferret log inside. So now I
have to commit an empty log folder to the git repository

does somebody use XCode on Mac for RoR instead of TextMate?
does somebody use XCode on Mac for RoR instead of TextMate? I wonder
how is it compared to TextMate... TextMate uses the default font of
Monaco... the Xcode screenshot on Wikipedia uses Courier... I wonder if
Xcode looks as good as TextMate when the font is changed to Monaco as
well? Thank you.

Rails 2.3.x and active_scaffold Installation
Hi,
I have upgraded to rails 2.3 and active_scaffold plugin is not
working.
when i run this command it creates a active_sacaffold folder in vendor/
plugins, but its an empty folder. I googled but found no way to
install it.
Please help!!!!!

prevent orphan records
If I have
belongs_to :user
Do I need to have
validates_presence_of :user_id
?
Does Rails validate the presence of :user_id automatically if I have
belongs_to :user?
In other words, does Rails prevent against creating orphan records that
belong to non-existent users?

searchlogic is_any needs to be switched to equals_any
Does "is_any" has a bug in searchlogic? "is_any" used to work fine
for me. All of a sudden now, for unknown reasons, when I write for
example :attribute_is_any => [1] , the sql output is "where
attribute != 1" which is the opposite of what I want of course.
Curiously, the problem only occurs when running with a web server
(mongrel). I see the problem in the

some permissions issues
I?m facing some troubles with file / directory permissions...
I log on the domain as admin user(root), and theres a pub share, on witch
everyone needs to have permission to create / modify files, but when I
change or create a file, only root can change the file, no one else. And
then i need to go to server to chgrp users * -R and chown nobody * -R to
allow others users to change the file.

best "Rails on the cloud" solution?
A search of this forum for "cloud" brought up a pretty anemic and mostly

Dear list,
I installed R 3.3.2 on a Red Hat Linux Enterprise 7.3 machine by adding the EPEL-repository and then installing it via yum.
R starts up and seems to be doing fine at first sight. However, when I try to list the files in a directory with the command

log access denied
Problem: Mongrel cannot start because access to log is denied. I just
switched to a new development laptop (Snow Leopard). I think I
installed everything I needed. I git clone the application I am
developing from the repository. Everything went fine. Now when I run
script/server, this is what I get:

cant fully capture child output
I cant seem to get the io from a child process of a worker back to my
client. There most be something academic I''m missing :/. I looked at

Rails Authentication Tutorial
