package conflict with libmodplug in rpmforge and epel
Dear All, there's a security update for libmodplug: This update is needed to fix a security vulnerability with this package. This notification was issued on 2011-05-10 and last updated on 2011-05-09. Update to upstream version 0.8.8.3 (CVE-2011-1574, CVE-2011-1761). I've the following priorities configured: priority = 1 [base] priority = 1 [extras] priority = 1 [updates] priority = 2

Do you happen to know of somewhere other than rpmforge where I can find hexedit and gqview for el6 ? Epel has them for el5, but not el6. Fortunately, installing them from rpmforge didn't drag along any dependencies. -- Bob Nichols

memcached - epel vs. rpmforge?
Does anyone know how the epel and rpmforge packages for memcached differ? I installed the rpmforge version some time ago before epel had it and now it looks like there are some conflicts in dependencies. Should it be transparent to the clients to switch to the epel package? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

OT rpmforge rpm is not putting Dag repo info in yum.conf
I should change this to OT, as it's not really CentOS related. I had a post on the list last week asking how the rpmforge rpm was to be implemented in yum. Craig White was kind enough to list how his yum.conf is appended, I assume after he installed the rpm. Unfortunately, mine is not appended with these lines. I am running CentOS 3. I will add these lines manually, and probably remove

rpmforge vs epel
I've been informed that rpmforge and epel do not play well together and that if I use both, epel should have the higher (lower numbered) priority. Alas I had it the other way around. rpmforge messed up my effort to get audacity. I no longer need audacity, but would like to fix the situation before some other problem crops up. Would fixing the priorities and telling yum to reinstall all the

are RPMForge and EPEL compatible?
Following Fabian's blog post re: RPMForge being rebuilt for EL5, I've a question: Are there any compatibility problems between RPMForge and EPEL? In other words, if I enabled EPEL previously, will I be able to enable RPMForge as well without running into trouble? -- Florin Andrei http://florin.myip.org/

rpmforge repo for centos5
Hi, I just downloaded and installed the rpmforge-release rpm file for centos5. Ftp isn't working here, so it went http, but the http mirrors are giving me error 11, connections refused. Is this a problem with the particular mirror? Also, how do i query a specific repo to find out what packages it contains? Thanks. Dave.

installing perl module in centos/rpmforge vs. cpan methods
Hi, I just used RPMforge package perl-Mail-Sender, and am looking at the perl cpan site for info, anyone got a simple way to determine if the module is working properly? I am trying to use the cpan info, but it's a bit cryptic (as perl is wont to be). -it says to use this: #!/usr/local/bin/perl use ExtUtils::Installed; my $instmod = ExtUtils::Installed->new(); foreach my $module

Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) Repo
May want to check out the new Fedora-Extras-based EPEL repo. There will be overlap with KBS repos (in fact they cite karan.org as an example of rebuilding Fedora Extras packages for EL4), RPMforge, etc. so be wary as of any other 3rd party repo. The Wiki page says "The EPEL repository is not yet publicly available -- we are in the process of creation and initial testing phase.";

RPMforge metadata problems
Hi, Yesterday evening I added a TIMESTAMP to the root of my tree in order to follow up on the correctness of mirrors. And after 12 hours more than 50% of the mirrors do not have that TIMESTAMP file. It is possible that it is filtered out, so the test is not at all valid. I am going to reduce the number of mirrors and only add the ones that have a recent TIMESTAMP. However since information on

Clarification Needed: DAG vs. rpmforge.
Dag in the thread about kvirc, I had pointed to dries repo, based on a list of repos I use *now*, that replaced your repo with rpmforge. This based on an instruction earlier that I should use rpmforge instead. So when I run my "yum --enablerepo=\* list...", it did not show your repo contents. Should I be including *both* rpmforge and dag? TIA Bill -------------- next part

Problems with rpmforge repo?
Hello, Tried yum update all yesterday and today and seems there is a perl dependency missing. Does anyone know if it is a problem or just a sync thing and that I should be more patient. Error is below: --> Processing Dependency: perl(Compress::Raw::Zlib) >= 2.020 for package: perl-IO-Compress --> Finished Dependency Resolution perl-IO-Compress-2.020-1.el5.rf.noarch from rpmforge has

Yum Updates dependencies missing (rpmforge)
There are updates available, for the below multimedia packages (CentOS 5.5, 32 bit), but I'm getting missing dependency errors from yum update for these. ---> Package directfb.i386 0:1.2.10-1.el5.rf set to be updated ---> Package ffmpeg.i386 0:0.6.1-1.el5.rf set to be updated ---> Package ffmpeg-libpostproc.i386 0:0.6.1-1.el5.rf set to be updated ---> Package

How come rpmforge.repo wants to install a whole slew of perl modules, yet if I leave rpmforge.repo out of the update process, none of the perl modules shows up?
