undefined method `^' for "d":String
Hi guys.
I''m a freshman on Rails (and Ruby) so I''m sorry if my question is
pretty basic, and possible has a vary basic answer. I tried to Google
this problem, but a couple of hour after and no solution found, I
decided to ask for help here.
I have installed ruby 1.9.1p243, Rails 2.3.4, Gem 1.3.5, SQLite
version 3.6.18 (I think this is all that it''s needed).

Rails 2.1 and default setting of Partial updates
I just updated to 2.1 and created a new, empty project. According to the
docs I''ve seen, including:
http://ryandaigle.com/articles/2008/4/1/what-s-new-in-edge-rails-partial-updates
The file config/initializers/new_rails_defaults.rb has the default
setting for partial updates and just needs to be edited: "Note: There''s
currently a config/initializers/new_rails_defaults.rb

How I installed ovirt on fc 12
Hi,
I installed ovirt on fedora 12 (64 bits) successfully but I had to make some changes to make it work.
1. Installation from rpms builded from the lastest git version
2. Patch ace : missing backslashes in sed commands
vim /usr/share/ace/modules/ovirt/manifests/freeipa.pp
line 33 : '/\\[kdcdefaults\\]/a \\ kdc_ports = 88'
single_exec {"set_kdc_defaults":

Replacing ActiveRecordStore::Session with a custom model
Has anyone managed to replace ActiveRecordStore::Session with their
own model?
In the source (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/browser/trunk/actionpack/lib/
action_controller/session/active_record_store.rb) it says you can
override the default by setting
CGI::Session::ActiveRecordStore.session_class = MySessionClass
I have tried doing this in a number of ways but I get all kinds of
weird errors, as

[PATCH driver-core-linus] kernfs: kernfs_notify() must be useable from non-sleepable contexts
d911d9874801 ("kernfs: make kernfs_notify() trigger inotify events
too") added fsnotify triggering to kernfs_notify() which requires a
sleepable context. There are already existing users of
kernfs_notify() which invoke it from an atomic context and in general
it's silly to require a sleepable context for triggering a
notification.

ferret search in production
Hi there,
after recently deploying my app, I have noticed that the search
results are not being displayed...
When I look in my app, I also notice that the apps content (search
criterea) is not being indexed, so I dont have an index folder being
created.
I read on a google post that it may be that the ferret.yml server
isn''t started (or perhaps the content of this file are not right)

undefined method `paginate' for #<Class:0x567eb98> in Rails Tutorial
Hi,
I''m getting a undefined method `paginate'' for #<Class:0x567eb98> even
though I have gem ''will_paginate'' installed.
Inside the users_controller I have @users = User.paginate(page: params[:page
])
so I believe I set everything up to be correct.
Can you figure out why the method''s undefined, despite installing the gem?

interpretation of F-statistics in GAMs
dear listers,
I use gam (from mgcv) for evaluation of shape and strength of relationships
between a response variable and several predictors.
How can I interpret the 'F' values viven in the GAM summary? Is it
appropriate to treat them in a similar manner as the T-statistics in a
linear model, i.e. larger values mean that this variable has a stronger
impact than a variable with smaller F?
