Totem Can't Read .wmv Files
When I try to read a .wmv file, I get the error message: "Totem could not play 'file://tmp/F15.wmv'. You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file. You might need to install the necessary plugins.' Granted that I am missing something, what is it, and where do I get it / install it? Thanks in advance -- Bob T.

CentOS5: Can't Access the Web Using Firefox Web Browser
Many times (not always) when I click on a URL in an email, the cursor (rotating arrow) lasts for 5-10 seconds, then nada. If I exit email to the desktop, nether the tool-bar icon, nor the Applications->Internet->Firefox Web Browser route will get me unto the web although the cursor shows a rotating arrow for a few seconds. Some other task may be executing as the hard disk is working

CentOS5:Printer Won't Work
I have a HP OfficeJet K80xi "all-in-one" USB printer. When I send a file to the printer from a virtual console using the command : lp "anyfilename", the response is "request ID is HPOJK80-7 (1 file(s)". There is no printer action, no sound, nothing. The printers name is HPOJK80; the -7 is the job number. The command lpstat shows there are a total of 7 jobs in the

Please advise on very fast search
Hello, I try to create some kind of mail backup system. What I need is system that will store mail for the whole domain, and allow me to restore messages from/to specified email at that domain. The scheme is pretty simple: on our main mail server the SMTP server itself has a rule to send a copy of every message to 'backup at backupserver.host', and the backupserver.host domain is

Oh this is bad.... bindaddr and rtp traffic
I have a configuration where RTP traffic is going out interface pub0, and coming back into through pub1. I have bindaddr=0.0.0.0 in sip.conf, and a netstat -an shows: udp 0 788 0.0.0.0:5060 0.0.0.0:* which means that Asterisk is listening on all addresses (on all interfaces?). Anyway, when the RTP traffic comes back in on interface pub0, Asterisk does nothing with it. A

question on unused directories in /usr/lib and /usr/lib64
I was working on archiving an old virtual server today and was reminded of how much space is wasted by some of the default installations on CentOS. I think this was a 5.x box. Anyway, in /usr/lib/64 (and probably /usr/lib on non-64 systems), there were a lot of directories which have no bearing on a basic server. I saw firefox, openoffice and many, many other directories -- replete with enough

Dovecot Load balancing - Please Please Please help me
I need your help on my issue very badly. I have the dovecot version 2.0.9 installed on RHEL linux 6.10 version. It's a single Live server. I need to add a load balancer by adding another server for resilience. I cannot upgrade the dovecot version at this time as it is a single live server. If something goes wrong, I will be in trouble. Basically the requirement/issue is: a) it's a

Opposite of cp -u
I had at one point copied a large number of files between drives and did not use the -p and thus the timestamps were all set to the date of the copy. I did not catch this, and deleted the source. So I 'lived' with it and have since changed many files. Well, yesterday I found a good backup of many of those files and I want to restore them to their proper dates. cp -p -u is exactly

[LLVMdev] I want to do something moderately insane, please help!
Hi, As some of you may remember, I'm implementing an LLVM-based model checker. I'm doing something a little odd, in that mostly I'm using the interpreter (currently a hacked version of lli with threads) for most things because I need to hook into lots of stuff that would be difficult to manage otherwise, but I'm also using the jitter for some things that need to be fast

Unsupported UPS using megatec_usb
Hey all, thanks for your work on nut. I recently got myself a new cheap UPS, and have thus far determined very little about it. I can run whatever you like to help identify and work with it. So far I've played around with various settings and have had some limited success with the megatec_usb driver (Debian testing version): ----ups.conf---- [plexus] driver=megatec_usb model=500VA mfr=Plexus

reverse name resolving of winbind 3.4.x
Hi all, I did upgrade from samba 3.0.28 to 3.4.1 on a domain member server. Now it seems there is a problem with reverse name resolving of winbind. The tools "ls" and "getfacl" shows UIDs instead of the usernames. When I run id "<username>" the username and the UID are shown correctly. After using "id" the name is also listed fine in the output of

Strange Error: Password data is not valid for scheme SHA256. Please help me resolve it.
Hello, I am using version 2.2.31 (65cde28) on an Ubuntu 16.04 VPS. I am attempting to setup a mail server using a flat file system as an experiment. I am able to send e-mail from external domain names and the messages land in my /var/mail/vmail/domain/user/ directories. I am trying to setup Thunderbird as an MUA using the information I generated on my VPS namely the IMAP server, username

Finding perl-MIME-Base64
I am told by yum localinstall that I need this for TinyCA2. When I search for it, it seems like it SHOULD be part of basic perl package, but it is hard to argue with yum on dependencies.....
