Ssh flow does not go into correct class. Help!
I''m a new comer. I have problems using tc+htb. I run the following commands, and expect outgoing ssh flow goes into 1:11. But actually it goes into default 12. What''s wrong? tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 12 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 1000kbit ceil 2000kbit prio 1 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:11 htb rate 100kbit ceil

Yet another shaping question
Hello list, I need to realize a complicated custom shaping setup, and given very little experience with shaping I just can''t wrap my head around it. I am not seeking a complete script, I just need an idea/a set of pointers on how to best subdivide traffic accordingly to my needs, and which shapers to place on every leaf. I am very experienced with netfilter and have minor experience with

Need help with HTB
Hello, 1. I currently have a 128kbps cable link to the internet..and I''m sharing this connection with others. I''ve made the following script(for alocating bandwidth depending on the services used: browsing, squid, games like counter-strike, icmp, ssh), which unfortunately isn''t working very well as the response times I''m getting upon pinging the server

HTB shares equally when borrowing enabled :(
Hi, I''m fighting seriously with a most simple HTB setup. I''d like to share the incoming 64kbps into 5 and 59 for two different machines under NAT. HTB seems to hold the required limits when ceil is not set (no borrowing), but when borrowing enabled it seems to share equally rather then keeping the specified ratio. My setup is below. A typical output of "tc -s -d qdisc

HTB: Problem with excess bandwidth distribution
Hello, I have a serious problem with HTB which I wasn''t able to solve myself. I run a masquerading router with ppp0 as interface to the Internet. Three clients need to share a downstream of 1 MBit, which I want to divide with tc. When I see a packet being forwarded to one of these clients, I give it the appropriate unique mark: iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -d 192.168.34.141 -j MARK

Install Question
Sorry for asking such basic questions but I haven''t used iproute or htb before. I am using RedHat 7.1 (2.4 kernel) and I want to use HTB3.3 and iproute2-2.4.7 Before I make and install iproute do I need to do something with the HTB files...I can''t find any docs on this Would appreciate it if someone could give me a few pointers, or point me to a doc...there''s very

Re: Re: HTB 3.13 please help
//Just to not forget eth0 is WAN and eth1 is LAN . The box is NATing my lan. I configured tcng to shape both download and upload and i got connection loss again. Maybe it is my script fault or it is something bad with packets marking . this is how i mark outgoing packets iptables -t mangle -A MYSHAPER-OUT -p tcp -s 192.168.1.23 -j MARK --set-mark $ip and this part of my script which is intented

Excess Bandwidth
Hi, I''m trying to configure QoS on my linux in the following manner: I have a main link with 64K, so I divided it in 3 classes of 18K, 14K and 9K with an excess (not used for classified traffic, just to be shared) of 23K. This excess should be distributed proportonally among the 3 classes, that is, the class that has more rate should borrow more bandwidth. What is happening is

Slightly offtopic: IRC channel archives
Hi all. I fear I''m slightly offtopic with this question, but I''ll keep it short: who is (or feels) responsible for the #lartc irc-channel in oftc.net? I''d appreciate if that person would get in contact with me (off-list) in order to discuss some ideas I have. Thanks in advance. Bye, Mike _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list /

HTB mpu and overhead settings for PPPoE ADSL?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I''m using HTB to shape my outgoing traffic over a ADSL-link with PPPoE with a nominal bandwidth of 128kbit/s. My goal is to favour small packets like ACKs and interactive services like ssh; in other words, I want to achieve low lantency. If there are some big packets going over the wire, everything works fine. But if there are

Lost packets and strange "behaviour" of my TC rules
Hi all. I''m going on my 3rd week trying to get a simple traffic shapping to work the right way :( !! My goal it to shape the traffic coming from one machine (pc1) to another machine (pc2) throught the "eth0" interface. My test configuration is as follows: PC1   IP: 192.168.105.237   Mask: 255.255.255.0   OS: Red Hat Linux Kernel 2.4.20-8   Rules:

Patch accurate packet scheduling for ATM/ADSL
Hi, I use the patch (http://ace-host.stuart.id.au/russell/files/tc/tc-atm/) for accurate the packet scheduling on ATM/ADSL link and i think I''ve found a bug. I tried to write to the author but he didn''t answer me. I work on a Linux 2.6.17 with the iproute2-2.6.18-061002 package. I change the type of the cell_align char to short of the struct tc_ratespec in the file pkt_sched.h

shape outgoing/upload traffic PER-IP.
does anyone know a way to shape outgoing/upload traffic per ip? I have a network and i want to limit the upload with 100kbit per user. Ex: 192.168.1.20 ----> 1024kbit-DOWN / 100kbit-UP 192.168.1.21 ----> 1024kbit-DOWN / 100kbit-UP and so on....... Ive tried CBQ and HTB, but couldnt get is right. the only thing that I did in upload bases was: "tc qdisc add dev ppp0 root tbf rate

htb2 -> htb3 problems
Hello! I need to switch from htb2 to htb3, because of speed issues (for me, htb2 is unable to handle more then 100mbit duplex with ~550 classes), kernel profiling shows htb_dequeue_prio at 1st place with 3x isolation. So, I''ve moved from 2.4.19 to 2.4.25 kernel (hi-pac for classification/marking and htb3 for queueing), and traffic rate drop from 100 to 20mbit. What can be wrong? The

Problem with HTB and ceil
Hi, I am trying to setup a shaper for my linux box and I am experiencing some problems. What I am trying to do is priorizing packets on the egress link, therefore I have setup some prio classes etc. The priorizing seem to work but the problem is that the ceil parameter doesnt seem to work on non leafs. This is what stats show: > class htb 1:1 root rate 3000bit ceil 3000bit burst 1602b/8 mpu

HTB, strange capacity distribution
Hello, after spending several hours reading archives, I decided to write new post. I successfully set up packet classification, made some basic HTB setup, made some simple graphical representation from HTB statistics data... BUT, I cannot figure out how to refine HTB to get this behaviour: I need that class "p2p" should be the last one to get some link capacity. If I set both RATE

TC (HTB) doesn''t work well when network is congested?
Hi, I have a server and ten clients in a Gigabit network. The server has 125mbps network bandwidth. I want that the server has 40Mbps bandwidth reserved for client 1 (IP 192.168.5.141), and the rest bandwidth is for all other clients. My script looks like this (I use IFB for incoming traffic): #!/bin/bash export TC="/sbin/tc" $TC qdisc add dev ifb0 root handle 1: htb default 30

Re: htb traffic shaping problem (Charlie Meyer)
Eric, I''ve attached the output from the command you requested below. I''m using kernel 2.6.17.12 and tc version ss060323. I''m have a nforce4 onboard giggabit controller using the forcedeth driver, if that makes a difference. Charlie, I''ll take a look at the Apache model for throttling, thanks. I was going for tc because was going to try to add additional
