How to paginate a find_by_sql query?
Does anybody know how to paginate a find_by_sql query? Unfortunately
I need to paginate a query which is next to impossible for
ActiveRecord or just too much of a pain to implement. So I''m using
find_by_sql. However, I anticipate a large number of rows returned
eventually. So I may need paginate.
Does anyone know how?
Thanks

Paginate with Rails 2.0.2 question
Hi,
So I''m using @post_pages, @posts = paginate :posts, :per_page => 10
to paginate.
But I have rails 2.0.2 on my VPS. Now this version of paginate throws
an error. What happened to classic pagination and what is done now?
Thanks,
Ron

undefined method `paginate' for #<Class:0x567eb98> in Rails Tutorial
Hi,
I''m getting a undefined method `paginate'' for #<Class:0x567eb98> even
though I have gem ''will_paginate'' installed.
Inside the users_controller I have @users = User.paginate(page: params[:page
])
so I believe I set everything up to be correct.
Can you figure out why the method''s undefined, despite installing the gem?

will_paginate generates undefined method paginate
Dear
I used to use the will_paginate plugin, and now it is no longer
available in the repository.
I am using the one in the gem
#gem install will_paginate
in my controller I have this
@careers = Career.paginate :page => params[:page], :per_page => 10
and in the view
<%= will_paginate @careers %>
I found this way in all the tutorials and the railscasts episode 51.
Though I still

How bad is it to have 7 joins in my find_by_sql?
My question is whether there''s a more idiomatic rails way of
structuring this query or of redoing the underlying models. First,
the ugly find_by_sql code, which is the method to generate an atom feed:
def atom
items_per_feed = 15
sql_query = "SELECT activities.*, users.real_name AS real_name,
accounts.last_scraped_at AS last_scraped_at,

Complex SQL in paginate command?
Hi all,
Is there a way to create pagination with a complex SQL, more complex
than the :conditions option will support?
I have two databases, houses and images. Houses has_many images, and
each Image belongs_to house.
I''m creating a search engine for the house records and I''d like to be
able to filter out all the houses without any associated images.
So far I''m

"Selecting" a calculated row / Using :select in the paginate method
Hi,
I was trying to use the :select parameter to select a calculated row,
but it appears that the parameter is not picked up by the paginate method.
I want to add the following to the select statement:
timediff(now(), created_on) as age
So I tried:
@story_pages, @stories = paginate :stories, {:per_page => 10, :include
=> ''user'', :select =>

pagination over custom-sorted collections?
I have a little web app where we need to paginate collections of
items. I''m trying to sort the collection and then pass it, sorted, to
a Paginator, and still be able to paginate through the collection,
across several pages, with the new sort order. The only thing I''m
doing differently from the regular scaffolding approach is this:

MonkeyPatching ActiveRecord::Base class
I am trying to monkey-patch the ActiveRecord::Base class to incorporate
a generic search class method so that it can be used by all model
classes which need this functionality. Since model classes directly
inherit from ActiveRecord::Base and unlike controllers and helpers, do
not have an ancestor class defined, I think I am forced to open the
ActiveRecord::Base class and patch it? May be I am
