406 Not Acceptable response
I want to send a response in a content type that is not listed in the
request Accept header. When I try to do this in Rails a response of
status code 406 Not Acceptable is sent. I would like to know how to do
this.
Ps: A example of a API that do this is the Sun Cloud API, where the
errors are sent in a specific media type (http://kenai.com/projects/

using console is a proper way in produciton?
Hello.
I''ve planned to use script/console to support mainloop for my rails
application.
I need some infinite loop for doing my logic.
For example, I want to give a point every second to users.
to do this task I think I simply code like this:
loop { GivePoint(); sleep 1 } on script/console
and handle taks in the GivePoint method.
Can this way work fine on commercial application?
In fact,

Creating Methods in the Model?
Hey Everyone.
First day diving in to ROR and Ruby...
My question is how do you define methods with in the model class and/or
should I even be doing this?
It is my understanding that you should put as much of the business logic
into the model as possible. I want to do some data manipulation before
I things are submitted to the database
IE (Create a variable out of two submitted via form, as

Setting flash notice via javascript?
I am using a javascript to redirect to another action. Is there a way
to set the flash [:notice] in the javascript?
So when the javascript redirects, the new action/view picks up the
flash[:notice]?
(I suspect I may have to do something like url?notice=.....)
ideas?
thanks.

You are right moving the mail should be simple.
I ask myself it is possible to store the date of the resubmission in the mail itself.

Resubmission after N days
Hi,
I would like to implement a 43Folder system[1] with dovecot and a mail user agent.
Use case:
- I have a new mail in my inbox. I read it and see that I can't handle it now. I want to handle this mail in 5 days.
- Now I want to have some sort of resubmission: the mail should be moved to a different location for these 5 days.
- After 5 days the mail should be moved to my inbox again.

DUNDi Docs
Does anyone know where I can find some good DUNDi docs?
The ones are dundi.org are absolutely horrible.
The examples in dundi.conf are pretty much useless.
I still can't figure out why Digium can't write some good documentation. It's their 'baby' after all. This really drives me nuts and pisses people off in general. I've been dicking around with DUNDi for over 6 months and

What to do before launching v1.0?
I’m launching a rails website, the app is written and works, undoubtedly
it’ll be an unmitigated disaster when I launch but none the less I
thought I’d least attempt to give myself the best chance of success by
asking all the gurus here for some advice – pre launch advice if you
like.
In an ideal world I’d spend days and hours on all of these things and
get it absolutely spot on, but as we all

attempt to access beyond end of device and livelock
Hi Dongyang, Yan,
When testing BTRFS with RAID 0 metadata on linux-3.3, we see discard
ranges exceeding the end of the block device [1], potentially causing
dataloss; when this occurs, filesystem writeback becomes catatonic due
to continual resubmission.
The reproducer is quite simple [2]. Hope this proves useful...
Thanks,
Daniel

how to search all fields for a string in SQL ?
Using SQL or activerecord I am not sure how to search all fields for a
specific value ?
I know how to do this by just writing ruby code. To do it in SQL or an
activerecord find w/condition,
I don''t know how. I actually am supposed to combine an find w/
condition and a search all fields for a
value and AND those together. I think perhaps it can''t be done with a
single find ?
