But still I get todays date :(

Overriding date_select in local project to use custom value rather than blank for starting option...
I would like to have a date control on a page and I would like a
behavior similar to what you get using date_select with the
:include_blank => true option where the first value in the dropdown is
"- Month -", "- Day -", or "- Year -" rather than a blank value for
the respective month, day, and year select fields.
I took a look at the ruby source for

Rails, Postgres and the Date Field.
Hi guys,
I''m having problems with my app. First of all, I created a date_select
with the code:
<%= date_select(''contact'', ''birthday'', :order => [''day'',''month'',''year'']) %>
In the contacts table, I create a date field:
birthday DATE
When I save the values goes wrong into the database.

Date_select vs wrong date weird behavior
In my date_select if I choose 31 april 2008, it converts it for 1st may
2008 which it seems odd for me?
I say odd because first its difficult to validate at the model level, I
have to hook some code in the controller and secondly when I finally get
the validation errors I have to go back at the edit page and show the
selected date(and the error message) which should be 31 april 2008 but
the date

Using a helper within another helper?
I am trying to push some view logic into a helper. The thought is that
this is a step towards having the business logic in the helper rather
than the view. However, I''m essentially wrapping the checks around an
eventual call to date_select(). The problem I''m having is that the
application complains that it doesn''t know about date_select(). I''m
sure (or

datetime/date problems w/ Oracle
I am "script\generate scaffold"ing w/ Oracle. The CRUD controls for DATE
columns in _form.rhtml are generated as datetime_select, rather than
date_select . This is understandable, as Oracle uses a DATETIME data type
for DATE columns. I''m also not too bothered by the fact that I have to
manually replace "datetime_select" w/ "date_select" for all

Bizzare Date, DateTime, date_select issues
I''ve been banging my head against this wall for several hours, and it
hurts now so I''ll stop and ask someone.
In one of my forms I had been using a statement to extract the current
year for use with some form field calculations.
<% currentyear = DateTime.now.year %>
And then further down several date_selects like the following,

default date in date_select?
Hi there,
I''m new to Rails -- started with this project just about five days ago
-- I''m re-building an in-house ordering tool, and it would be handy to
pre-populate a date_select field with a value two weeks from now. The
calculation isn''t the hard part, it''s getting date_select to
pre-populate itself.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Using date select in rails.
Hey,
When I use date select in rails it gives me this really weird string.
How can I make a date selector in my view that the gives me a value that
can be used straight in a find query. I end up with an sql error when I
use date_select in my view.
Any advice?
Thanks.

I''ve put together a simple form that contains among other things a
date_select:
<%= date_select(:user, :dob, :order => [:day, :month, :year],
:start_year => 1900, :end_year => Date.today.year) %>
In my controller I have some code to create a user entity from the
parameters posted up from the form, like so:

Problem with date_select after Rails 2.1 upgrade
Folks,
I think I should start a new thread for this, because a similar one I
saw is a bit old and the resolution there doesn''t seem to apply to
what I''m running into now.
Anyway, my date_select calls are bombing on me with the exception:

Default Value for date_select helper
Hi All:
Just curious if anyone has figured out how to set a default date for the
date_select helper.
My application has a form with both a start date and end date select for
the user. Since the period between the two is a minimum of 24 hours I
wanted to have the start date default to Date.today (which it does
automatically) and then have the end date default to the following date

Localization of the date_select -helper
I could use some help with translating month names for the date_select
helper using gettext.
Think my best bet would be to override the
ActionView::Helpers::DateHelper.select_month method once gettext is
initialized, which is done by a before_filter in ApplicationContext,
but have no idea how I would go about that.
Any suggestions appreciated,

date_select helper error
I have this date select helper:
<%= date_select("customer", "dob", :include_blank => true, :order =>
[:month, :day]) %>
I get this error when posting the form:
1 error(s) on assignment of multiparameter attributes
The error happens when I take off the :year option.
Any clues as to why this maybe happening?
