TBF to limit bandwidth, Should I change #define HZ?
Dear friends, thanks for the last advices about TBF. After reading the tbf.pdf document I got a better insight of the problems I had trying to limit the bandwith on my testbed with a high resolution. The question I have now is: Would I get an immediatly better resolution result if I change the #define HZ to 1000 for my Linux box? I have a Pentium Celeron 700 MHz, and I would like to see the tbf

Per user bandwidth limiting ..for small ISP.using Squid
Sir, Kindly excuse me. I am a newbie to LARTC.. I am a small ISP in rural India distributing 1 MB link to 200 people. I have been using rshaper by Alessandro Rubini for shaping. http://freshmeat.net/projects/rshaper/ My kernel is Linux version 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl( Fedora Core 1) Rshaper is very good in controlling incoming bandwidth (from LAN) I use Squid also on this Linux Box.. Limiting bandwidth
Greetings, Scenario: Centos box with eth1 (10.0.0.0/24) and eth0 (192.168.0.0/24) segment on eth0 has access to full bandwidth of uplink Both are on 100mbps switches Requirements: bandwith on segment on eth1 needs to be throttled to different speeds - say 32, 64, 128kbps and the such. Required for application performance testing purposes. As usual my girlfriend google is very verbose.

Now what I have is everyone gets max 64kbps. That''s fine. simply limit interface bandwith
Hi there, I am quite new to lartc and the usage of tc commands is still very difficult for me. All examples I have read (including the lartc.pdf) are way too complex for my "simple" problem. I just need to hard limit a given interface to a bandwith (egress and ingress) like: eth0 inbound 1000kbit eth0 outbound 1000kbit No priorities, just a bandwidth limitation per device.

[Bug 7120] Variable bandwidth limit .. bwlimit
mhh - interesting question...... what about combining the power of throttle ( http://linux.die.net/man/1/throttle ) or similar tools (there are some more like this) with rsync ? via this hint: http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2006-February/014623.html i got a clue how to combine rsync and throttle and gave it a try : cat throttle-wrap #!/bin/bash throttle -k 1 -s 1| "$@" rsync

Wondershaper stops limiting outbound traffic
I have wondershaper to limit my upload at 400kilobits (my line is 600kbps). I do a lot of torrent seeding and I dont want my pings killed when I''m uploading so I set low prority source ports as follows (by the way, I have bittornet to only use ports 6881-6910): NOPRIOPORTSRC="6881 6882 6883 6884 6885 6886 6887 6888 6889 6890 6891 6892 6893 6894 6895 6896 6897 6898 6899 6900 6901

IP based bandwith limit
Hi, i''ve following problem. One of our gateway router, which connects some of our customers should have bandwith limit. So customer A with IP XX should have 2 Mbit, customer B with IP YY should have 10 Mbit. There is no need of borrowing bandwith so no fairness needed. My simple question: with which technique should I manage this shaping? Or is there any existing project which

Bandwidth
Just a little question about icecast. I guess the streaming technique used is unicast. In that case, how is it that the bandwith used does not grow up as several listeners connect ? Or is the bandwith written in the icecast interface the bandwith used per listener ? Thank you for your answers. -- Ced <p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives:

Limiting stream bandwidth
I am trying to limit the bandwidth per stream so that I can stream 2 mp3 connections from my box. I have 256 upload speed. I am using icecast 0.3 and ices 2. I made the changed listed below, restarted everything but it still seems to be streaming at max bandwith. Is there anything, besides moving to ogg vorbis -- it will happen when I have time to write the script to convert the 1000s of files

Dynamic bandwith with HTB
Hi everybody. I have a dilema and I think you guys can help me out. I am trying to shape the bandwith for about 500 clients, and I want the bandwith to be alocated dynamicly. Lets say I have 4 MB bandwith. I give each ip (500 IP''s) a sustained rate of 4 KB/sec . I wonder if I can shape the bandwith so when for example only 100 clients are online, to give them a rate of 4MB/100. How can

share bandwith between vpns
I have clients, which connectin to Internet through vpn. I want to dynamically share bandwith between vpn connections, so if there few connections, then they get all bandwith, if more then they get their minimal guaranteed bandwith. my idea is: ip-up.local: tc class add dev $DEV parent 1:1 classid 1:2${1/ppp/} htb rate $[$RATEUP/$VPNS]kbit ceil ${RATEUP}kbps tc filter add dev $DEV protocol ip

Limiting bandwidth usage - where to begin
Hi, I am very new in this list.. I want each of my internet users to be limited in his/her usage of bandwidth. The limitation will be done in my squid (linux) box, as they all have to be authenticated by squid before going to the internet jungle.. Then anybody here could tell me where to begin to do such thing ? Any idea/solution would be very appreciated TIA regards, aqil

Software Anounce: htb frontend, for multiple hosts auto bandwidth management
Hi all, i''ve coded htb-gen, a GPL htb frontend and much more... htb-gen is meant to be an easy, scalable, yet powerfull, bandwidth management tool. You can set up/down portions of bandwith for each host or network, that goes trough your router/firewall. Prioritary traffic(web, mail, gaming, ftp, voip, streaming) is preferred over Junk traffic(kazaa, emule, etc). Also dynamic bandwith

Bandwith especification.
Hi, If I have a DSL router with 300kpbs upload bandwith: Linux(eth0) ---(100Mbps)---> DSL ---(300kbps)---> INTERNET Which is the recomended value I must set in my QoS setup for the maximum outbound bandwith of my ethernet interface ? The max of 300kbps or something less like 290kbps ? Especify less than the maximum available bandwith is advisable to ensure that the QoS algoritms goes
