Need basic PPPoE startup help
I need basic PPPoE startup help. adsl-start DID bring up my PPPoE link (ppp0) to my ISP over eth0 via the DSL modem/bridge. My IPv4 CIDR block is routing and Shorewall is doing the firewalling. But shorewall has to be started after ppp0 is up and working. For now this means running shorewall restart (or start?). Shorewall 4.2 will have a way to restart shorewall without recompiling, I

Problem with packet mangling over 2 links
Hi I have a strange problem. I have a firewall with 3 nics. 1 - lan 2 - leased line or diginet 3 - connected to adsl modem I have 2 tables in defined in /etc/iproute2/rt_tables: 200 diginet 201 adsl The ADSL modem has an IP of 192.168.0.1 and is configured to initiate the PPPOE connection. I can mark packets within the network destined for port 80 successfully: ip ro add default via x.x.x.x

ifb and ppp
Hello! My goal is to setup an ingress traffic shaping on my PPPOE DSL line with ifb. My old imq stuff used iptables marks (like ''iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -p tcp --sport 22 -m length --length :500 -j MARK --set-mark 31'') to classify the traffic and since i am lazy, i tried to to reuse them with ifb. But no luck: iptables marks the packets well, but tc

TCP MSS clampage
Hey, My internet is provided via ADSL using PPPoE. When I take a look at ifconfig''s output, I see that eth0 has an MTU of 1500, and ppp0 has an MTU of 1492. I don''t _think_ that rp-pppoe (my pppoe util) is clamping the MSS. I am noticing some latency when there''s a lot of bandwidth in use (but not >90%). What should I clamp, eth0/ppp0? How much? And what with,

SIP & NAT
I hate SIP. The only reason I'm doing this is that its cheaper than deploying the server to a colo facility. My provider has given me a non-standard IP block, so I can't do typical routing. I have Asterisk server <-> MT w\NAT <-> PPPoE <-> MT <-> Provider. I setup a dst-nat on 5060 to the Asterisk box. Audio from Asterisk --> PSTN works great.

quality question
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 If I'm going from .wav --> .ogg -q9 --> .ogg -q7 do I suffer any ill effects or is it just like going from .wav --> .ogg -q7 ?? I ask because I think I want to go down a bit more as the size of the files are around 10mb or so. I can get them from source again and go straight to - -q7 if need be. - -- Robert Cole -----BEGIN PGP

tc filter matches ip fileds inside pppoe frames
I have a requirement which I guess it is not too unusually, however I haven''t quite figured out how to do it and couldn''t find any examples which handle that. I have made myself a Linux-based bridge, eth0 bridged with eth1 to form br0. In this bridge, I run ''tc'' script to handle QoS. So far nothing unusual. However, what''s different is that this

alot of traffic over pppoe ?
hi I was wondering is pppoe scalable enought to support Gbps speeds or at least tens of hundred of Mbps ? From the docs I read it seems that after user is auth over pppoe the client traffic still passes over ppp-channel from pppoe-client <---> pppoe-server <---> Internet Instead of pppoe-client <---> Internet m''I correct with this assumption ? From this I

Re: Re: how to realize "MLPPP LFI" on linux
Hi,Andy Thank your very much! For the MLPPP LFI,I found that in Cisco configuration,it use "ppp multilink;ppp multilink fragmentation;ppp multilink fragment-delay 20;ppp multilink interleave " command to enable MLPPP LFI.So I think just realizing the same function on my linux router would be fine. But I got no idea how to do this on linux. So is there anything with iproute2?Would you

How to bind 2 WAN 1 LAN ?
You need a combination of iptables and iproute2 to do what you want = because routing is based on it's DESTINATION address and you need to route on = your SOURCE address so it uses a different route depending on which source = IP is in the packet.. Refer to this page which is sort of what you want BUT not exact. It'll = give you some ideas...

Shaping per IP in PPPoE
hi all. i am currently now serving PPPoE in my area. i had a script generated from tcng that worked perfectly before i started serving PPPoE. the issue is not in the script it self BUT in that "tc" code is not shaping on the ethernet anymore BUT INSTEAD on the pppX devices. I tested it and talking jargon, what should i do? The issue is that for each PPPoE login, PPPoE-server

PPPoE gives me each time a device =>

help with multiple IP over pppoe
I am having a little trouble getting my head around this so any help would be appreciated. I have just signed up a new service and have been allocated the following subnet which gives me 30 usable IP addresses. 210.15.xxx.192/27 The connection is made via pppoe which works fine and the connection creates ppp0 and assigns 210.15.xxx.193. Now I want to use 4 IP''s in a DMZ and the reset

Routing or Nat question
Hi I used to have a xDSL with a Cisco 677 router setup that connected via PPPoE to my ISP. I now have a different ISP that uses a xDSL modem setup which means my shorewall firewall machine external interface hooks up til my ISP by directly by DHCP and gets a real internet IP while before with my router setup . My question is: With my Cisco router setup i could from my LAN access my outside IP
