Ackbar - ActiveRecord Adapter for KirbyBase
= About Ackbar Ackbar is an adapter for ActiveRecord (the Rails ORM layer) to the KirbyBase pure-ruby plain-text DBMS. Because KirbyBase does not support SQL, joins or transactions, this is not a 100% fit. There are some changes to the ActiveRecord interface (see below), but it may still be useful in some cases. = URIs Ackbar: http://ackbar.rubyforge.org KirbyBase:

Rails SQL generation (Firebird adapter) - can someone explain ...
I see some possible issues with the SQL that is being generated by the firebird adapter. Every SQL is being generated on the fly by concatenating strings. Can someone please explain why the SQL is being generated the way it is? I cannot use this in real life for a couple of reasons: 1. This introduces a security hole because a user, accidentally or deliberately, could potentially submit a

ActiveRecord for kirbybase?
I''ve found vague mentions of various attempts at creating an ActiveRecord adapter for the KirbyBase pure Ruby DBMS, but nothing which looks like it''s actually working. Anyone know of such an adapter that is functional and available? b

How do booleans work?
I''m a little confused as to how booleans work in Rails. Which is better in the database? boolean or int(1)? True == 1 and False == 0, right? Using SQLite, I tried to set a value to true inside the database but it gave me an error. MySql didn''t, so I had to switch to int(1) for it to work. Is this just how it is? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received

Which postgresql adapter to use for rails core? How about production?
I wanted to fix some things up in the trunk, so I set up the databases and ran the unit tests. A bunch fail for postgres, and even more error out. I know of two postgresql adapters: postgres-pr and ruby-postgres. Strangely, they each fail different tests. So if I want to fix things up, which one should I be using? For that matter, which adapter should I be using for production? Finding out

Selecting a database from the application itself?
Hi everybody, I just started thinking about a project and am seeking some help regarding its design. The idea would be to create labels (i.e. address labels).I could let users type the text manually, but I dont think they would appreciate that when they''ll want to print 5000 addresses. I can also probably let them import csv files, that should not be a problem, but playing with those

activerecord-sqlserver adapter broken or worse
The activerecord-sqlserver-adapter gem is still sort of available via gems.rubyonrails.org, but it will not install on machines that have Rails 2.1 (or its version of ActiveSupport) installed. This has been confirmed with versions of rubygems through 1.2. This seems to indicate that Rails is no longer tested against the MSSQL adapter and that the adapter is also no longer tested against Rails

Multiple databases + switching databases
Hello, I have an application that access two different DBMS - Firebird and Postgres. So far, that''s ok. The problem is, depending on the customer logged, a different database (Firebird) must be selected.
