Use mod_rewrite rules instead of rails-routes
Hi I am trying to use mod_rewrite rules instead of rails routes (don''t ask why.., routes are not flexible enough in my case): Basically I have these two RewriteRules in my .htaccess file: RewriteRule ^(.*\/)*index\.([0-9]+)\.([0-9]+)\.html$ /keywords/show?id=$2&page=$3 RewriteRule ^(.*)$ dispatch.fcgi [QSA,L] So I want /foo/bar/index.123.4.html rewritten to

Apache config: Two different rails apps using same domain name (mod_rewrite issue)
The problem I''m solving here is that I have two different Rails applicatons that uses the same domain name. One handles the www (e.g. www.mycoolapp.com) and is used as the main site, and the other handles the user subdomains (e.g.. someuser.mycoolapp.com). The DNS stuff and the Apache virtual hosts were all set up, the two rails apps are in place in the file system, and the proper

mod_proxy_balancer mod_rewrite permission issue
I started the mongrel_cluster and tried to use the RewriteRule to forward the requests to proxy_balancer just as the http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/apache.html said. When I visited my site from a remote computer, I always got the error messages "Forbidden, You don''t have permission to access / on this server." Finally, I added the "Allow from all" property (in the

mod_rewrite issue
I'm installing Drupal 6.2 in the document root of a CentOS 5 install using httpd-2.2.3-11.el5_1. I'm using a virtual host entry with the following rewrite rule to enable "clean" URLs: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [R,L,QSA] This works fine expect the user still sees the "ugly" URL in the address bar. However, if I remove the R, it breaks completely. Any clues? I

RedirectHandler? mongrel_rewrite?
Hey guys. I''ve been playing with RedirectHandler and it''s pretty neat, but I question its usefulness. At work we do the trendy "/javascripts/spy.1152734636.js"-style asset includes rather than the default Rails style of "/javascripts/spy.js? 1152734636". This is no problem with mod_rewrite as we run the basic Apache => Pen => Mongrel setup.

Redirect / http://www.other_url.com redirects everything and I don't want /files to be redirected Craig -- This message has been scanned

Any pioneers who've configured passenger to support some apps running in 1.8.x others in 1.9?
Passenger configuration selects which ruby executable to use via a global configuration variable (at least for Apache, I assume it''s the same for Nginx). I''m in a situation where I''ve got at least one rails app I''d like to run on 1.9 while others remain on 1.8. This is for my development machine running OS X 10.6. Normally I just use the Passenger PrefPane,
