I''m using the remote_form_tag to submit my form data to a controller method call. I would like to forward if everything checks out and display the model errors is there is a mistake. Right now my method call returns a string and it''s being displayed in a div, but I can''t force a redirect or display errors is they exist. Any ideas? Thanks, David

Javascript error?

Everything seems to be working fine, but the progress bar simply doesn''t work. remote content
Hi, I''ve looked through the api and I can''t seem to find the functionality that I''m looking for. I want a link that, when clicked, will replace the content of a div with the rendered content of another action. Something like what you can accomplish when you use remote_form_tag and then have the reply replace the content of a div in the page. I''m sure this

redirect_to is not working with ajax forms
I''m having trouble using redirect_to in an action called by a remote_form_tag. The log shows the redirect, and rendering of the redirected page, but the browser won''t redirect. If I set :update in the form_remote_tag, the page that was supposed to be redirected to will replace the :update elements content, and crash FF1.5 Running edge rails, and utf8 encoding joshua

Changing the onsubmit event using an RJS template
Hi there, I''m currently writing my first ROR application, and must say I''m loving the framework. Just a quickie, which people will probably instantly know the answer to. I''ve got a select box which I want to be able to add values to on the fly using AJAX. I''ve got the form all appearing and updating the database, however, what I want to be able to

form_remote_tag with multipart/form-data
Does form_remote_tag supports multipart/form-data ? My form looks like this: <%= form_remote_tag :url => { :action => ''do_image_upload'' }, :html => { :enctype => ''multipart/form-data'' } %> <%= file_field ''image'', ''file_data'', :size => 32 %> <%= submit_tag

Problem getting form_remote_tag to work with image upload
Hey guys, I am trying to pass the parameters for the file being upload, but the params[] are not being passed. Ive read through some posts and realize this is an issue with RoR. I read through some of the posts and someone suggested using: http://svn.kylemaxwell.com/form_remote_upload/trunk/ I tried to install it, and although I thought I installed it correctly, it doesn''t work.

draft-proposal for Ajax.History - History/Bookmark handling in Ajax apps
Hi list, In one of my previous projects I had to satisfy the requirement of handling browser back- and forward calls within an Ajax application. Thus I didn''t get an urge to switch the JS part of this project to an other framework like dojo (which supports Browser history handling out-of-the-box), I had to come up with an idea of doing this with prototype/scriptaculous. The arisen

iframe is reloading during each sortable drag/drop point
We are creating a simple widget portal for our site and trying to use Sortables. Each of our widgets is an iframe. But when you try to drag an element containing an iframe the Sortables api causes the iframe to reload at each possible drop point. This causes the ui to shutter and become unusable. I have narrowed the issue down the onEmptyHover where dropon.insertBefore is called. Is there a

Drag''n''drop DOM elements between (I)FRAMEs
I am quite disappointed in the drag ''n'' drop support in Mozilla Firefox. What am trying to achieve is dragging an element from one IFRAME/FRAME into another IFRAME/FRAME. But upon dropping the element, I do not want the target IFRAME/FRAME to open/load it. I want it simply to handle the event, such as parsing the element/data dropped. Such uses as dropping an element into a

Prototype Based Validation with form_remote_tag
Hello, I am attempting to use validation.js from http://tetlaw.id.au/view/blog/really-easy-field-validation-with-prototyp e/ with form_remote_tag. The rails form helper binds the needed Ajax.Updater to the onSubmit action of the form. The validation.js also attempts to bind to the onSubmit of the form. The logic that is needed is if( valid.validate() ) { ...Ajax.Updater... } where valid

function.prototype.bind return value?
Quick question - how come the function.prototype.bind doesn''t allow for return values? Am I missing some basic understanding of how this works? I searched and couldn''t find an answer. Specifically, I''m binding an object method to an existing form''s onSubmit, but it still actually submits the form, refreshing the page - which is not what I want. If change

IFRAME based RJS - responds_to_parent
** File uploads with AJAX mojo ** Respond with RJS to your parent window with a form action targeted to a hidden IFRAME. Assertion failure in do_get_write_access() at transaction.c:737: "(((jh2bh(jh)) on a 2.4.18-14 (RH8.0) kernel while experiencing SCSI errors
Hi, I use ext3 over RAID1+0 LUN. When I disconnect my fiber cable to the RAID (in order to force a migration to a failover node) I expect to see I/O errors and then a failure to write/read to the filesystem, but in addition I get an Assertion failure. The end result is of course an unusable system which needs to be rebooted. (I reboot the system via machine_restart which works okay but I guess

RJS referring to window.parent
Hi all, I''ve been doing some work on the Ajax Scaffold (http://www.ajaxscaffold.com/), to make it work with file uploads (more specifically, the file_upload plugin). The first logical step was to get rid of form_remote_tag, since it''s impossible to send files via XMLHTTPRequests (to my best knowledge). So I referred to the iframe hack, similar to the upload progress bar here
