New Beta version of Rake for Rails Users ... Fix for Ruby 1.8.2 unit test bug
I have a new version of Rake that I''m (almost) ready to release. But before I
make an official release, I would like some Rails folk to give it it try ...
Why?
Because it contains a workaround for the notorious Ruby 1.8.2 test/unit bug.
Using this version of rails, it should be possible to unit test a rails app
without patching the Ruby 1.8.2 test/unit library.
Where to get it?

Chapter Numbering in Hieraki
I''m using Hieraki to do some documentation for RubyGems. So far I''m
lovin'' it.
But I have a question. I currently have three books on the site. It
seems that the chapter numbers continue from one book to the next. For
example, the first book has 7 chapters (numbered 1-7). The second book
has three chapters, but they are numbered (8-10) rather than the (1-3) I

Builder::XmlMarkup adds <inspect/> on printing and <clone/> on saving
Hello,
I am new in this group. Please give me a short hint, in case this is
the wrong place for my posting.
I want to create an XML file and store it in "filetransfer". The XML
part of the file (the body) sould go to "filetransfer.data". Despite
the last line, everything is fine with the code below.
With "filetransfer.save" two entries "<clone/>"

Builder::XmlMarkup and dashes
Has anyone hacked Builder::XmlMarkup to dasherize underscore tags by
default? I know I can use tag!, but I''d like to find a way for it to
translate underscores to dashes automatically. In other words:
xml.department_manager do
"fred
end
#=> <department-manager>fred</department-manager>
I tried hacking Builder::XmlBase.method_missing but got myself all
twisted up!

Example using Builder::XmlMarkup and .rxml files?
Greetings,
I''m a newby to both "R"s in RoR. I would like to use Builder::XmlMarkup
to generate my pages. If there is a working downloadable example
somewhere, that would probably be enough. Otherwise, here''s what
I want to do:
With the following controller:
class AccountsController < ApplicationController
layout ''accounts''

XML Builder question (Brain Teaser? or At A Total Loss?)
I''m trying my best to get Builder to give me a nested representation
of my nested database tables, but I think I''m not getting any closer
to a solution. In fact, now I''m in Syntax Error land, rapidly
approaching Missed Deadline country. Perhaps you could be the one to
save my ass?
Basically, I have Images which have many Options (intended to

how to get builder 2.0 to escape attributes in rxml
I am using rxml to produce opml files and need to escape ampersands in
the attributes.
builder 2.0 docs found at http://builder.rubyforge.org/ show the
following
xml = Builder::XmlMarkup.new
xml.sample(:escaped=>"This&That", :unescaped=>:"Here&There")
xml.target! =>
<sample escaped="This&That"

embedded DTD using Builder
Hello -
I would like to include an embedded DTD in generated XML output. I am
attempting to use the Builder::XmlMarkup class to do this. A simplified
example follows:
xml = Builder::XmlMarkup.new(:indent => 2)
xml.declare! :DOCTYPE,:logs do
xml.declare! :ELEMENT,:logs,''(log*)''
end
The problem that I am encountering is the that second declare! call

ActiveResource 3 on MRI 191: NameError (uninitialized constant Builder::XmlBase::Symbol)
We''ve run into this before and, in this particular project, I''m
positive we had a hack somewhere to get AR to work but it seems to
have gone missing and I''m not finding any hints in git history or
Google. Any call to an AR.create will trigger it. Seems like a
strategically placed require or include did the trick but I''m probably
misremembering.

XML from Builder without the to_s element
Hi All,
I''m trying to return XML from a Rails view of an object I built up
using Builder::XmlMarkup and I find an annoying side effect is that I
get an extra <to_xml/> or <to_s/> element back which makes REXML
hiccup thinking I''m adding a recond root element when I try to parse
the return.
How can I return the XML without this last element?
Thanks,
Vince

Changes to vendor/builder?
I''m referring to the vendor folder under activesupport/lib/
active_support folder. Are we supposed to be making changes to the
files in this folder? I just submitted my first patch (a doc patch) to
a file in this folder, and I just realized it could be an external
project. Then I noticed the XML Builder project in RubyForge. I also
just noticed that most of the files under the builder

Successfully importing Rubyful Soup objects
All,
At the top of my controller, I have:
require ''rubygems''
require_gem ''rubyful_soup''
The rubyful_soup gem has been successfully installed.
However, when I go to instantiate a class from it, using
parser = BeautifulSoup.new(html)
I get
uninitialized constant BeautifulSoup
Is there something else I need to do to see the symbols in the Rubyful
Soup gem?

Camping and Builder and XML
Hi,
I have built a simple Camping application which indexes an ODBC
datasource using Ferret on startup, then accepts search strings and
renders the resulting hit list in HTML, and it works quite nicely.
The next step was to alternately render the list in XML for consumption
by another application. In Rails, I would simply use Builder in the view
to get the job done, and so I did the same in

Reload instance data on instantiate
I''m working on a website which interacts with Amazon web services.
I have an Item class which is a cache for amazon items. I''d like to
have the class instances to refresh data every day (Time.now -
item.last_updated > 1.day) but not sure how.
I''ve tried with

xml builder cache (with a slight problem on initial load)
Let me give you the background. I am using rxml for a lot of my views
for a rails project. I also noticed that there is a lot of the XML
being dynamically generated on data that doesn''t change that often. I
worked on trying to cache the xml fragment that I needed but came to
the quick realization that cache only handle ERB/RHTML files. Needless
to say, I have spent some time creating an

Even if I try:

I get the same thing.
Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

instantiate record in single table inheritance
Hi,
is there a way to instantiate a _concrete_ subtype from within an
ActiveRecord collection?
Example:
class Link < ActiveRecord::Base
end
class InternalLink < Link
end
class ExternalLink < Link
end
internal_link = my_navigation.links.create_[xxxxxxx]
external_link = my_navigation.links.create_[xxxxxxxx]
the [xxx] is what I am missing...
I could do this

[LLVMdev] [Mips][TargetOptions] How to properly instantiate TargetOptions in MC layer?
Hi Eric,
as I was working on the same issues that are covered in your patch I also made a change in clang driver to pass this option to the assembler. Could you please review it and tell me your opinion?

Thanks
