Redirect to where I was
I wonder if there is a standard Rails way to redirect from an action back to a previously viewed page. As a quick fix I created two little methods in the controllers/application.rb. Does this seem like an ok way to go? Thanks, Peter class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base def i_was_here session[:i_was_here] = request.env[''REQUEST_URI''] end def

Best Practice for Returning to Calling Page?
I have a partial, it''s a shopping cart display, it''s designed to appear on several different pages of my site. One of the buttons on the shopping cart empties the cart, and then I want the calling page to redisplay. In other words, the cart controller needs to return the visitor to the same page -- however since the cart could appear on any given page, this has to be

Authorisation question
My authentication (signup/login) is up and running in my app, now I need to implement an authorisation system. Its not going to be a complex one. One admin (me) and then normal members and premium members. Any tutorials or tips on a simple way to get this running? Thanks. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

How to redirect_to the same page after comment posting?
How can I have the page redirect_to the same page after someone posts a comment? I know that you can do "redirect_to :action => ''index''", but the page is located at this URL: /posts/2006/02/01/individual_post/ So, the action is "individual" which is in the "posts" controller, but there is a custom URL mapped for the URL shown above. How can

before_filter and the application controller
Hi there, I''m having a bit of an issue with my before_filter. I know that the filters put in the application.rb controller are global for all the controllers. In my application filter I''d like to allow access to the RSS feed method in a ''member'' controller and skip the login checks that the before_filters are currently performing. In my application my filters

How to get the current URL?
Hi, how can I get the current URL withing a controller? There seems to be no appropriate method in ActionController::Base. I''m creating a site, which requires a login for some pages. I''m using before_filter for authentication. My idea was to store the currect URL in a session before redirecting to the login page and then redirect to this URL after successful authenfication.

Getting past my login system
Thank you in advance for your help. I am relatively new to both Rails and Rspec and I am hoping for some insight from some experienced veterans. Right now I am using Rspec for code that has already been written so that additional functionality can be developed using the BDD method. My problem shows up when I try to spec controllers that are behind the login system. Each page checks for the
