bge drivers does not work for 3COM 3C996-SX / 3C996B-T
I'm experiencing similar problems with a 3C996-T under 4.8-REL.
In particular, connecting a 4.8-REL machine to a 5.1-REL machine leads
to some interesting situations: I can do simple pings across the link,
but ssh fails, and heavy pings crash the 4.8 machine. Similarly
changing the interface configuration with ifconfig tends to crash the
4.8 machine (mtu, link0, up/down, etc). The

VLANs with Xen - work with 1 Gbit, doesn''t with 100 Mbit cards?
I have a strange problem with VLANs with Xen 3.0.4. I signalled it on
Xen-users list, but found no definitive solution to it.
I configure VLANs so that they are available in dom0; domUs don''t know
that they use VLANs.
I use a stock "network-bridge" comming from Xen for setting up networking:
#!/bin/bash
dir=$(dirname "$0")
"$dir/network-bridge"

can ls files, but can't cat files
I have a server roark (fedora core 5 with samba 3.0.23a-1.fc4.1) with a
home directory awilliam. I'm trying to mount it on my linux workstation

and when I cd to /mnt/roark-awilliam, ls works, but if I cat a file I

Very odd problem
I had previously tried to migrate our PDC to a new machine by simply
copying the config over and such. That failed miserably but luckily the
various home servers (BDC's in samba speak I think) took up the slack.
So after much debate, this weekend we moved the PDC back to the original
machine. We never moved LDAP off of the original machine, as only samba
functions moved.
I now know I did

unable to run login scripts in [netlogon]
My Windows XP SP3 clients aren't loading their logged_in_username.bat
from my netlogon share, and I can't figure out why. It looks like in
the log file the Windows PCs are loading the script, its just not
executing it on the windows PCs for some reason, but if I click start,
run, and type in \\roark\netlogon\scripts\jholland.bat it runs fine.

authentication across 2 samba servers
I have 2 samba servers, archives3 (10.8.2.2) and roark (10.8.2.3).
roark is the domain master. Users on roark are in
/etc/samba/smbpasswd. I'd like the users on roark to access a share on
archives3 (\\archives3\pubinfo). How can I have archives3 authenticate
the users against the users in smbpasswd on roark?

Samba fileserver limited to 50 MB/s on gbit
Hello,
I am running a fileserver with smbd here.
The server is a 64bit 2.8 GHz Celeron D with 2GB RAM, running 64bit Debian,
Samba version 3.0.23c.
It is running as a pure fileserver so its only CPU load is serving files.
The client I am doing the tests from is WinXP Pro SP2.
It is connected via Intel e1000 gbit ethernet (both the server and client
use e1000 chipsets).
I have done a raw tcp

4 GBit nic bonding new centos 6.3 system with cisco VSS switches - suggestions?
Hi,
I install a new 4 Port GBit Server with centos 6.3 and I'd like to use
nic bonding.
Searching for a good how to pinted to this page:
http://www.how2centos.com/centos-6-channel-bonding/
My question: Is this the current, good way to bond the 4 ports?
The other question: What should I set on the cisco switch for the
Port-channel options?
As far as I understand for performance and

1 Gbit/s Ethernet NIC under CentOS
Hello listmates,
As some of you may know we have been having a really bad problem with
Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8169 cards. See here for details:
http://forum.nginx.org/read.php?24,140124,140224
So now my question is, what PCI 1 Gbit/s Ethernet adapters should I
use under CentOS? If you have had a consistent positive experience
with any particular chipset/brand please speak up.

Performance Issues with GBit LAN
Hi.
I have 2 PC's connected with 1GBit NIC's. When I transfer a file from my File-Server(Redhat9.0, 256 SD-RAM, 300MHz PII, RTL8169 NIC, 2x Western Digital WD200JB RAID 0) to my Windows-PC(AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 1024 MB DDR-RAM, WINXP PRO, RTL8169 NIC, 2x Western Digital WD080JB RAID 0) with Samba, i get Speeds around 8-9MB/sec. I think this is too low for an GBit Network, so i tested the

bad performance Vista <-> Samba over gbit
Hi,
I've a strange issue with the performance of file transfers between a
Samba server and a Vista client.
My configuration looks like this:
fileserver: Samba 3.3 on FreeBSD 6.2 ----- gbit switch -----
workstation: Vista x64
When transfering files between the two PCs, I get abount 6.5 to 7 MB /
sec. On my last Vista installation I got about 40 MB / sec. I've tried

Unitek ALPHA 1200 Sx USB cable
I've just acquired a Unitek ALPHA 1200 Sx UPS to replace an older serial
UPS that's been working well with NUT for years. Could anyone with a
Unitek tell me what the pinout on the 10P10C plug is so I can make up a
cable? Thanks.

SX-6 port of openssh, configure problems
When we were porting OpenSSH on SX, we had similar problem. And when we did
#undef HAVE_B64_NTOP in config.h, we faced linking problem as b64_pton()
multiply defined, in base64.c and in libc.a. So we modified configure to
check both the functions b64_pton() and b64_ntop(). But we gave priority to
native function if available. Following are the diffs of three files we
changed

X100P and Mitel SX-2000 Light
I've configured an analog/single line off my mitel sx-2000 to a x100p
card in my *, however when the remote caller drops the line I get a
dialtone back from my pbx and the x100p doesn't detect the end of the
call. Any way I can tell * to drop? I've tried call progress but it
doesn't seem to work...

Replacing SX-2000 Centigram Voicemail with Asterisk?
We have a customer with an obsolete Centigram voicemail system who would
like to replace it with Asterisk.
Any one with experience doing this or information on the signalling and
trunking used to connect the Mitel SX-2000 to the Centigram server?

multiple domains and one PDC w/ ldap?
Is it possible to have multiple domains and all of them authenticate to
one PDC running openldap?
Each building at work has a network segment, 10.8.1.x - 10.8.18.x, each
having their own samba server using smbpasswd and DOMAIN name. Like the
server arrowhead 10.8.9.2 has domain = HPADMIN in smb.conf, server
archives 10.8.8.2 has domain = OLDCAPITOL in smb.conf, roark 10.8.2.3

target doesn't allow inferior mailboxes
Using Seamonkey as my email client, and IMAP to check mail. If I create
a new IMAP folder, and then delete it, I get the error:
The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Target
mailbox doesn't allow inferior mailboxes.
Tried a google search, didn't really come up with anything. I have rw
permissions on /home/awilliam/Mail/* and delete the files fine using rm
