More current version of bluez
Centos continues to fall behind in with the state of bluetooth development. Nothing new from 5.1 to 5.2. Has anyone got a more recent version working and have compile and rpm build instructions? Here are the rpms that I have: bluez-gnome-0.5-5.fc6.i386.rpm bluez-hcidump-1.32-1.i386.rpm bluez-libs-3.7-1.i386.rpm bluez-utils-3.7-2.el5.centos.i386.rpm bluez-utils-cups-3.7-2.el5.centos.i386.rpm

atrpms nvidia cannot load
Hi guys - brand new 5.1 install here and quite happy - but... The nv driver did not work at all for me, fritzy stripes and dots. This is a GeForce 7300 LE which was working happily dual-head under FC6 with the livna nvidia RPMs So I looked around and it seemed like the ATRpms repo via yum was the best option for CentOS. This is what I installed, it worked great with the xorg.conf from the

Madwifi just seems to work in Centos 5
I have not installed the madwifi specific kernel stuff (kdml and hal-kdml) from atrpms. I have installed with wpa rpms. And my Atheros card is working with almost no work on my part (other than runing wpa_supplicant as a deamon). Nice!

Can't start pand -- is the problem in /etc/rc.d/init.d/pand?
I have been stepping into pand. There is nothing I can find on this list about getting pand working. There are some instructions on wifi.bluez.org that seem to be redhatish, but.... I have edited /etc/sysconfig/pand: PANDARGS='--listen --role GN --master' I have created a /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bnep0: DEVICE=bnep0 BOOTPROTO=none ONBOOT=no IPADDR=192.168.201.101

In the market for a new (old) laptop
Changes at my day job (we have a big merger being finalized), has me in the market for a new laptop. They may require me to only run the approved XP build on the system they provide. I do not know if they will fund another unit for me or not, so I am looking to go cheap. Here is what I am looking for: Runs Centos (duh!) Supports Suspend to memory as well as to disk. Bootable from

Power burn test
I need a program that will just run everything at max so I can measure the max power used on some systems. My 'Kill a Watt' meter should show up early next week. SO run that CPU at max, using all memory, and keeping the harddrive spinning. I can jsut do pings on the lan card for it to stay awake. I have searched here and on the net and have come back with nothing.

Anyone can help me with this problem I''ve described here: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=612006 I''ve had XEN4.0 working on CentOS 5.4 platform without these problems.  I''m trying to do the same now with a newer laptop and CentOS didn''t recognise half hte drivers.  The latest opensuse 11.3 does have these drivers and specifically nouveau

rjs woes, any hints?
I''ve pared my rjs experiment down to what seems a bare minimum. When I click on my link_to_remote, the rjs executes, returns the correct javascript to the browser, but it doesn''t update the div I''ve specified. What appears to be coming back from the controller is: Element.update("my_form", "hello, rjs"); I''m tearing my hair out.

Sending files from mobile to CentOS via Bluetooth
Has anyone here managed to send files from a mobile phone to a CentOS system via Bluetooth? I'm trying with a Samsung E1310, using the GNOME tools, but can't get it to work. I can send files from the Linux box to this phone using the Nautilus bluetooth plugin (nautilus-sendto-bluetooth), and have also managed to "pull" some data I've been trying to send, via

Newbie woes with *apply
Dataframe cust has Date-type column open.date. I wish to set up another column, with (first day of) the quarter of open.date. To be comprehensive (of course, improvement suggestions are welcome), month = function(date) { return(as.numeric(format(date,"%m"))) } first.day.of.month = function(date) { return(date + 1 - as.numeric(format(date,"%d"))) } first.day.of.quarter =

Authentication woes, passwd standard install
I have two users working fine. Tried to add a third and it refuses to accept log on details. I've stripped everything back to default config, and still only the first two users are accepted! Can't understand it and it's driving me crazy. I've deleted and created the user a thousand times, and opened the config up as wide as possible. I'm obviously doing something stupid but

bigmemory package woes
I have pretty big data sizes, like matrices of .5 to 1.5GB so once i need to juggle several of them i am in need of disk cache. I am trying to use bigmemory package but getting problems that are hard to understand. I am getting seg faults and machine just hanging. I work by the way on Red Hat Linux, 64 bit R version 10. Simplest problem is just saving matrices. When i do something like

Voicetronix vs Digium FXO
One of the suggestions I got for dealing with my analog FXO woes was to look into using a Voicetronix card instead of the Digium. They're more expensive but if it worked better it may be reasonable. They indicated they were compatable with the CVS HEAD version of *. Can someone share with me their experiences with Voicetronix OpenLine and/or OpenSwitch cards with *? I'm specifically

CentOS Amazon Machine Image?
I am totally new to AWS.? There was a posting here ~ a year ago making claims about setting up a CentOS image on AWS. I have created a free AWS account and am looking at the available images. None are named CentOS.? There is a Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 and Amazon's own Linux and SUSE, Ubuntu, but I don't find CentOS. This is a learning endeavor.? I was thinking to first set up a BIND
