Fwd: Re: Samba 3.4 / 3.5: Printer settings getting lost on server
Nobody who can help use with this issue?
A developer already began to fix it 3/4 year ago, but never created a patch
that finally fix the whole problem.

Isolate VMs' network
All,
I'm trying to setup a network with some virtual machines, that can connect
to each other and to the internet, but neither to the host nor to other
VMs.
Is there any preconfigured network filter or best-practice for this setup?
Of course, I could setup iptables rules on the host, but I'd prefer
libvirt to handle them.

rewrite manpages to mdoc(7)
Dear authors of NSD,
currently, the manpages that come with NSD
are written in the traditional man(7) markup language.
I am proposing to rewrite them into the semantic markup
of the mdoc(7) language. I am willing to do the work.
See a version of nsd-checkzone.8 below as an example.
Both the man(7) and mdoc(7) languages have been around for decades,
and are supported by the prevalent formatters:

bind vs. bind-chroot
Hi,
On my public servers, I usually run BIND for DNS. I see CentOS offers a
preconfigured (sort of) bind-chroot package. I wonder what's the
effective benefit of this vs. a "normal" BIND setup without chroot. On
my Slackware servers, I have a rather Keep-It-Simple approach to all
things security, e. g. run no unneed services, open only needed ports
etc. but I don't run the extra

Best inode_ratio for maildir++ on ext4
Hi,
This might be a silly question: which would be
the best inode ratio for a 5 Tb filesystem dedicated to Maildir++
storage? I use ubuntu server, which has a preconfigured setting for
mkfs.ext4 called "news" with inode_ratio = 4096, and after formating the
fs with that setting and then with the defautl setting I see this
difference of space (wasted space, but more inodes):

W2K PDC preconfigured security templates
Plan to use W2K PDC and a couple of Samba 2.2.8 file
servers.
Has anyone used the preconfigured templates that are
shipped with W2K server(basicdc.inf, securedc.inf) on
their PDC?
Gotchas? Landmines? Necessary Modifications?

a few more notes
hi,
while all files is owned by nsd user and nsd run as nsd the nsd.db is
still owned by root user (because the compiler run as root and create
this file as root, ok i know just it'd be better if this file is owned
by nsd too).
another strange thing is that on the slave nsd i've got such messages:

zonec: reading zone "lfarkas.org".

iSCSI initiator iqn
Hi,
I could not find any option to set iSCSI initiator iqn while using
guestfish, although the underlying qemu command has this option.
It appears that each time guestfish tries to connect to iSCSI LUN, a
randomly generated initiator iqn is being used. This is preventing
guestfish to connect to the iSCSI target in our environment as the target
allows incoming connection based on the preconfigured

'dialer' application to trigger call between hardphone and number
Does anyone know of a small lightweight windows 'dialer' application I can use to trigger a call (via call file or AMI) from any application? (The call would be placed between the target number, and the preconfigured DN of the hardphone at the user's desk)
Ideally a phone number would be 'selected' from within any windows application and the call would be triggered via

Use postfix and spamd on CentOS 6 - looking for a shortest guide
Hello fellow CentOS-users,
on the net there are lots of Spamassassin related HOWTOs - describing how
to create a shell script for Postfix and how to install Spamassassin and
start its spamd daemon - step by step. Additionally antivirus setups are
described...
But I have a strong feeling, that this is unneeded on CentOS 6 - because
there are already preconfigured stock packages for postfix and

allow-notify SUBNET and request-xfr inconsistency
Hi list,
We are observing strange behavior of nsd v3.2.9 acting as slave DNS server.
The environment is set up as follows:
0. We are using 172.16.0.0/16 subnet;
1. Primary Master server at 172.16.100.114;
2. Slave server at 172.16.100.115. The config file is
in /etc/nsd-dns-slave.conf;
3. There may be also other Master servers im the given subnet.
Now I want to permit DNS NOTIFY messages to
