link_to_remote() can do something like Yahoo! UI "argument"?
Hi,
I am using Rails'' link_to_remote() and I want to do the same thing
Yahoo! UI''s connection manager "argument" can do. From the Yahoo! UI
docs:
"argument: an object, string, number, or array containing data that
your success and failure functions might need in order to successfully
process the server response."
So, you use argument when you make the ajax

Yahoo UI Library with Rails
Has anybody used the Yahoo UI library successfully with rails? I am
particulary interested in some of the ratings tools they used (like 4 out of
5 stars thing rating a post). Curious to see if anyone out there has worked
with this at all.

disable ''tab'' key wish for incremental autocomplete of textareas
I''m absolutely in love with the incremental
autocomplete feature in the new scriptaculous.
My one wish would be for some way of disabling the TAB
key to prevent users from being able to tab out of an
autocompleting textarea. (If they''re using TAB to
select the autocomplete choice they end up tabbing
straight out of the input field if autocomplete

jQueryUI autocomplete (Rails 3.1): can't get source as url to work
Hey,
I''m able to duplicate everything in Ryan Bates'' screencast on jQueryUI
autocomplete (#102<http://railscasts.com/episodes/102-auto-complete-association-revised>),
except for the piece that calls the server for completion data.
Here is my view html:

Fwd: Re: disable ''tab'' key wish for incremental autocomplete of textareas
Hi Tim,
Thanks for the commentary, you bring a good point to
light: I think the asynchronous nature of AJAX needs
to be looked at more carefully in our UI assumptions.
The key difference between AJAX auto-complete and any
other browser/OS autocomplete is that we can''t
guarantee having the results ready by the time the
user wants to hit TAB. In the old days we used to
have everything

@post = Post.new(params[:post])
@post.tag_with(params[:tag_list])
@post.user = current_user
if @post.save

Having Ferret index method results (like :tag_list) worked

columns) as strings and methods as symbols, like so:

Multiple simplifycfg pass make some loop significantly slower
Hi all,
I am noticing a significant degradation in execution performance in loops
with just one backedge than loops with two backedges. Unifying the
backedges into one will also cause the slowdown.
To replicate this problem, I used the C code in
https://gist.github.com/sklam/11f11a410258ca191e6f263262a4ea65 and checked
against clang-3.8 and clang-4.0 nightly. Depending on where I put the

Removing One Element From a Serialized Form

I''m trying to serialize a form with the exception of one specific
element.
Serializing the form in a hash (without pulling out specific elements)
works:

Specifying ui and ci such that ui %*% theta - ci >= 0
Hi,
I am a bit stuck on specifying ui and ci.
I have read Lange's book ((1999) Numerical Analysis for Statisticians) to
his approach and unfortunately his descriptions were not helpful for me.
Here is what I have:
ui <- rbind(c(0, -1, 0), c(0, 0, -1))
ci <- c(0, -1, -1))
theta <- c(0.5, 0.5, 0.1)
My goal is to feed these into constrOptim

DEFAULT versus UI
I'm posting this as I'm trying to evaluate DEFAULT versus UI.
As it stands right now, the use of the UI directive means that DEFAULT
is effectively ignored from the command line. If you specify UI and
DEFAULT and use (vesa)menu.c32, (vesa)menu.c32 will use DEFAULT unless
a MENU DEFAULT option exist in the current context. If the attempt to
execute a command fails, returning you to the

Automatic reindexing of associated columns acts_as_taggable
Hi,
So i''m trying to use acts_as_taggable with the acts_as_ferret plugin,
where I have Post.rb model, which has a method tag_list made available
through acts_as_taggable, as returns a string of associated tag words
from the tags table (tag.rb). I''ve set up my Post.rb model in the
following way.
class Post < ActiveRecord::Base
