acts_as_taggable, undefined method 'empty?'
I''ve tried out ''acts_as_taggable'', ''acts_as_taggable_on'' and ''acts_as_taggable_on_steroids'' and all of them output "undefined method ''empty?''" with the tag_cloud action. I am following the guides precisely. Yet I can find no references to this error anywhere, so I must be doing something wrong... I am on

link_to, how do you combine url options and html_options?

Best practices for conditional display in views?
Hi. I am writing an application that has a lot of boolean conditional display logic, like this: <% if user.description then %> <p class="css_class"><%= user.description %></p> <% end %> Often the displayed content is more complex than the above, and to clean up my views I am trying to pull a lot of this sort of thing into partials. However, the problem

Overloading error_message_on method in ActiveRecordHelper
Hello all I would like to overload the error_message_on method in the ActiveRecordHelper module in order to emit a span tag instead of a div tag. I try to achieve this by way of plugins: Under vendor/plugins I''ve made a error_messages_on_fix directory, containing init.rb like this: --- require ''active_record_helper_fix'' --- ..and a lib directory with

Tagging recommendation - acts_as_taggable_on_steroids best?
hey all What''s the most popular tagging plugin/gem these days? Is it acts_as_taggable_on_steroids? Or is something else better? I''d like to basically replicate flickr''s tagging as much as possible, eg allowing multi-word tags to be denoted by quotes or seperated by commas. thanks max -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Stories with many tags, tags with many stories, has_and_belongs_to_many howto?
Hi, I began experimenting with habtm relationships, and so I created a stories table, a tags table, and a stories_tags table referencing the former 2. When I create a "story", I want to add several tags to it. Then, the model should create those tags and link them to the respective stories, and for the tags that already exists, just link them to the story. I tried something like

hello, i am currently using acts_as_ferret in one of my applications and now would like to also incorproate tags. i came across somesones blog that had this: ////// Having Ferret index method results (like :tag_list) worked out-of-the-box for me with acts_as_ferret. I specified attributes (table columns) as strings and methods as symbols, like so: acts_as_ferret :fields => [?title?,

Re: RESOLVED: Overloading error_message_on method in ActiveRecordHelper
Leaving the body of the method the same as the default still throws the "stack level too deep" error. As a matter of fact, it only disappears if I comment out the ''require'' in line 1. As it turned out, it was the method definiton itself that caused problems. Ruby doesn''t have keyword arguments, but I tried calling the method as if it had. But when I changed

Acts_as_taggable / Rails Recipes bug?
I''m following the acts_as_taggable chapter from the Rails Recipes book. I want my view form to have a text_field that correlates to an attribute in the Model that accepts a string of space delimited tags. The book uses tag-_list, but from what I can tell this attribute can''t be written to. I''ve added this to the plugin code itself - am I missing something, is there a

Need some brainstorming help: acts_as_taggable_list?
I''m trying to figure out the best way to set this data model up. I''m still pretty new to Rails, but hopefully I could turn this into something useful to others as well. Here are the basics: User has_many items items are taggable (items habtm taggings, tags habtm taggings) I also want users to be able to order their tagged items. So if I''ve tagged 5 items as

dygraphs, multiple graphs and shiny
Hi All: This is really getting into the weeds, but I am hoping someone will have a solution. I am trying to use dygrahs for R, within Shiny. The situation arises when I am combining a number of dygraphs into one plot. If I am just in an RNotebook, if you look at: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/30509866/for-loop-over-dygraph-does-not-work-in-r the solution to have the plot shown from a
