changing the day of the week in dates format
Dear all, I have a question related to the POSIXlt function in R. I have a set of dates and times, for exmaple: startx <- as.POSIXct("2011-01-01 00:00:00") finx <- as.POSIXct("2011-12-31 00:00:00") daysx<- seq(startx, finx, by="24 hours") I want to change the dates of all the days falling on a Saturday to the next working day (i.e. Monday). So I

degree C symbol in a function
Hello help, I have changed around some graphing code and made it into a function. Previously they y label of the axis was inserted as text in its own layout box. text(1,1, expression(~degree~C),cex=1) This worked great and resulted in the symbol for degree. In the function, I have changed it so: text(1,1,paste(b_unit),cex=1) and b_unit<-expression(~degree~C) This now inserts ~degree~C

Small Date Formatting Question regarding datetime_select()
Is there a way to make datetime_select() dropdowns work on a 12hr clock? I need to make a input field that works exactly like the reminders datetime selecton dropdowns in Backpack to populate a datetime field in my DB. i.e in the format: month, day, year ? hour (1-12) minute am/pm. Should I change my database to have a separate column for date and one for time and use date_select()? Can

issues with R Library on a Server
Hello, I am a bit over my head on this issue. My colleagues and I are running R off of our server. We all have admin rights and prior to yesterday we all had our own libraries. Our main system administrator advised us that we should have a shared library. So, I am trying to do this. I have downloaded the latest version of R and installed it on the main drive of our server in the "Program

getting ISO week
Hi all, Is there a simple function already implemented for getting the ISO weeks of a Date object? I couldn't find one, and so wrote my own function to do it, but would appreciate a pointer to the "default" way. If a function is not yet implemented, could the code below be of interest to submit to CRAN? Best Regards, Gustaf --------------------

I am having a difficult time finding clear information on how I would do this. I need to take a date out of a table in my database and given another day calculate the next 28 day anniversery of the original date. This is used to calculate a delivery

identifying when one element of a row has a positive number
Hello, I am not sure where to begin with this problem or what to search for in r-help. I just don't know what to call this. If I have 5 columns, the first 2 are the x,y, locations and the last three are variables about those locations. x<-seq(1860,1950,by=10) y<-seq(-290,-200,by=10) ANN<-c(3,0,0,0,1,0,1,1,0,0) CTA<-c(0,1,0,0,0,0,1,0,0,2) GLM<-c(0,0,2,0,0,0,0,1,0,0)

selecting rows based on number that occurs after letter
Hello, I am trying to cycle through a csv and make some summary statistics. I need to select rows based on the number in the row name that comes after the letter 'y'. For example, ? BA1y1 would equal 1, ?C3A2r3y1 would equal 1 and ?MA3r3y1r3 would equal 1. I currently have my code ?cycling through by the 5th character but my rows have variable length and the y can occur in several

Creating dataframe of all possible variable combinations
Hello, I need to create a dataframe containing all possible combinations of three variables: SITE (101,102,103,104), WDAY (MON,TUE,WED,THR,FRI), and TOD (MORN, AFTN). There should be a total of 40 unique combinations in my dataframe. I used expand.grid() successfully(?) to create my dataframe, but then when I went to order it by SITE, the resultant dataframe only contained four rows, one for each

Some help with dates.
Hey, I'm new to R but familiar with other programming languages. Basically, I want to store an array of dates. For each of these dates I want to store only the day of the week and the hour. So for example: "Monday 12" would be Monday at 12 o'clock and "Tuesday 20" would be Tuesday at 8 p.m. Alternatively it could be stored as 0-6 for Sunday to Saturday. So Tuesday

I did the following.. lapply(v,function(x){strptime(x, "%a %b %d %H:%M:%OS %Y")}) This gives me a list that looks like
