Tip: searchable Rails api docs from within RadRails!
Just a tip for those of you using RadRails. If you install the new
rubygems 0.9.0, you can type "gem rdoc --all --ri" at the command line.
Then, open up RadRails, go to Window->Preferences->Ruby->Ri/rdoc and
change your ri path to the path to gemri (which gemri). Finally, open up
your RI Eclipse view and voila...indexed, searchable rails api docs at
your finger tips!

Mongrel on CentOS 4.3 / RHEL 4.3 64Bit
I tried to install Rails + Mongrel on CentOS4.3 64Bit (my provider only
has the 64 Bit version available).
I found out, that I have to install gcc and emacs-common and have to
copy the *.h files of the ruby source into a certain directory (see below).
But finally I get an error messag when I start mongrel and I have no
idea how to solve that problem:
wget

wxruby-swig: Converting to REXML
Since I''m setting up my development environment on a new system, I
figure now is the time to get rid of one of the extra dependencies: NQXML.
It appears that REXML can now parse the whole classes xml file in about
20 seconds on this machine, which is a huge improvement over the many,
many minutes it used to take. So I am now updating extract.rb to use
REXML instead of NQXML.

RSpec 0.7.4 released
Hi all,
I released RSpec 0.7.4 yesterday, and by now the gems should have
rsync''ed to all the mirrors.
This release features a complete redesign of the reports generated
with --format html.
You can see some examples of it here:
http://rspec.rubyforge.org/report.html
http://rspec.rubyforge.org/tools/failing_examples.html
As usual there are many bug fixes - mostly related to spec/rails.

1.0.2 release candidates
Hello Mongrels,
Release candidates for Mongrel 1.0.2 and its dependencies are now
available. Note that gems are now signed, so please add the Mongrel
public certificate via:
$ wget http://rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/25325/mongrel-public_cert.pem
$ gem cert --add mongrel-public_cert.pem
Now you can verify and install the candidates via gem install:
$ sudo gem install mongrel

This produced quite a mouthful of text.
I''m stuck on the error messages and wondering if I messed something
up. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thank you.

Getting gem rdoc via ri?
Guys,
I''m working with the new RadRails release (0.5.3), which has a very
nifty inclusion of ri courtesy of RDT.
Problem is, although I''ve generated rdoc for all installed gems with
"gem rdoc --all", it''s not accessible through ri. I see some posts here
and there about rimport...is this still the necessary way to incorporate
the rails rdoc into ri?

Mongrel 0.3.3 -- Bug Fix
Hey Folks,
This is a quick release that fixes a major bug. I forgot to require the
timeout library properly in mongrel.rb so people using Mongrel outside of
Rails would see pauses. 0.3.3 fixes this all up.
The 0.3.3 release also has a small change to the examples/simpletest.rb file
with some gzip response using Ruby''s zlib support. Curious what people
think about this and whether it

rails-3.0.0.beta3 install error on ri 'lib' ENOENT
Hi,
I was getting an odd error installing rails-3.0.0.beta3 on a fresh
Ubuntu 10.04 install. The same exact error was occurring on my Ubuntu
9.10 install, so I''m sure it isn''t something specific to the Ubuntu
version (nor beta for that matter).
This is the error:

query FXRuby by ri
Hi Don,
Thanks for the tips.
But it works on an old XP computer but NOT on the new Vista.
I also notice that I can browse the classes from Fxruby when I use fxri or ri on the old computer. I see nothing about FxRuby''s stuff when I use fxri or ri on the new Vista. But I can use gem server to see the Rdoc about FxRuby''s classes on both computers. It looks Ruby doesn''t

Could not find rails (>= 0) amongst [bundler-1.0.21]
Hello, I''m new to Ruby and unix/linux development (although been
building .net apps for years).
I''ve almost completed my trek to install Rails ... looks like I have one
final hurdle. After installing rails I try the ''rails -v'' command and
it fails. Any help here would be deeply appreciated.
Here''s the output from my bash session:

Noob Install Failed 0.0.0.0:3000
Happy Holidays,
I am new to RoR and have just run through the install, which well
seemed to be vaquely documented as some ''Do this'' type of thing on
the http://rubyonrails.org/download page.
download gem
setup.rb
gem install rails
rails path/to/your/new/application
cd path/to/your/new/application
ruby script/server
and then ( drumroll ) ....
