ActionMailer - Sent but no mail?
Hi, I am attempting to use ActionMailer to send out an email (SMTP) and am having an issue. The log files show that the email is sent, but the email is not making it to my inbox. I have followed the documentation both on the Wiki and in the AWD book. I''m not sure which setting I have incorrect and need some pointers. :authentication - should this be set to true, or

501 Syntax: HELO hostname - Mail problem
Hello... I am encountering a problem sending emails from Windows using an extermal smtp server. When attempting to send out the email, the following error is returned: 501 Syntax: HELO hostname I have checked the format of the emails, and they are ok. ActionMailer/SMTP: Net::SMTPSyntaxError when message body contains only a 'dot'
FYI: I don''t think this is a very well know. It seems that, on some operating systems, ActionMailer/SMTP crashes when it sends an email with only a ''.'' (aka a ''dot'' or a ''period''). Specifically, you get Net::SMTPSyntaxError (502 Error: command not implemented): Environment Details: $ uname -a Linux private1 2.6.15-26-server #1 SMP

asset_host and ActionMailer
After digging through the rails code to figure out why my asset_host wasn''t getting applied to emails, I realized that it''s because the config object in the context of a mailer is config.action_mailer and not config.action_controller. This means you need to set asset host separately for emails, as config.action_mailer.asset_host. Should this be considered a bug? Is it really

request.format = :mobile causes error "undefined method `ref' for nil:NilClass"
I have a strange problem with setting request.format = :mobile I can reproduce this problem on a completely fresh Rails 3.0.7 app with no special gems. This seemed to work well in Rails 2 but for some reason is hiccuping here, not sure what''s different in Rails 3 that makes this hiccup. If you look at the stack track, it doesn''t even pass through my app stack once -- weird --

Help with error "undefined method `downcase' for nil:NilClass" after migration
Hi all, I have a rails 1.5.2 application. I''ve frozen the application via the "rake rails:freeze:gems" command. This application worked well on a server I previously had it installed on. My server was getting really slow, and I requested that I be moved to a new server. When I perform a "gem list rails" command on my new host, I receive only version 1.2.6. Since

Action Mailer contact form
I am trying to use Rails and the Action mailer to create a simple contact form on a website. I am using a table-less model to validate the form contents, then trying to use the Action Mailer chapter of the "Agile Web Development with Rails" book as a pattern to develop the send e-mail portion. I am having trouble getting it working and was hoping someone could point me in the

Misc notes concerning view_paths
Hi all, I''ve been playing in the trunk with putting stuff in different dirs to keep files from a reusable framework separate from the app files. Here are a few considerations regarding the view_paths setting: config.view_path is used to set both action_controller.view_paths and action_mailer.template_root. We get some buggy/unexpected behavior here because

scaffold :product missing in Rails 2.0.2 version of depot tutorial?
I am getting an error when I try to run the code for the depot application (page 67 in the Agile Web Development on Rails book, 2nd edition). I built the complete depot app with Rails 1.2.6, and all worked well. I then updated to Gem 1.0.1 and RoR 2.0.2, and attempted to repeat the tutorial, and got this strange behavior. I used "rails depot --database=mysql" because I have not
