Dirty Rotten Hack. (reversing tickmarks on axes?)
I feel dirty. I have some graphs I'm building to communicate chargeback rates and service usage for our backup system here at the University of Florida. These come down to daily data points on a graph of number-of-bytes transferred and stored. Since we chargeback on the same basis (price per MB this, price per KB that) the same chart with a different scale can be used to communicate bytes

Controlling share create permissions
Is it possible to set default create permissions on certain directories within a share? ie. Create files in the share [something] /folder1/ as 744 but in /folder1/subfolder/ as 777. I thought of creating two shares and having the users manually go into the other share to save thier files, but confusion ensued. Thanks for any help! Ryan

permissions bug w/ --backup-dir or --backup option?
Running rsync 2.4.7pre1, using the --backup-dir option, I just realized today that file ownerships and permissions of backed up files are not preserved. In other words, if rsync moves an obsolete file to the backup dir, it's ownership seems to revert to root:root, and permissions change, as well. We are also using the -a (archive) option, by the way, which should mean "preserve

CanCan issue when being very specific
So I got CanCan and Devise working well. I have two types of users: Admins and Nonadmins. Admins can edit all of Nonadmins profiles. The problem is, every user (either Admin or Nonadmin) belongs to an Account or Organization. Admins should only be able to edit users from their own Account or Organization. I was able to do that too. The problem is, I can''t display the Create New User

RAqua with X11 TclTk
I've built a version of RAqua that uses X11 TclTk and NOT AquaTclTk. http://www.economia.unimi.it/R/RAquaX11.dmg (15 MB disk image) The idea is that you: launch RAqua, launch X application (the X Server), and from inside R type x11() # just tt set DISPLAY to :0.0. Eventually close this window device, we don't need this. load(tcltk) quartz() demo(tkdensity) It works on my Panther

(newbie) Missing Template Error using Rolling With Rails Tutorials
Hi all, New to the list, Ruby, & RoR. I''ve been going through the Rolling With Rails tutorial, but am getting the following error when the instructions tell you to add the @recipes = Recipe.find_all line to the RecipeController: Template is missing Missing template ./script/../config/..//app/views//recipe/index.rhtml The index.rhtml file is right where it''s supposed to

Monitoring my disk activity
Recently, I''m benchmarking all kinds of stuff on my systems. And one question I can''t intelligently answer is what blocksize I should use in these tests. I assume there is something which monitors present disk activity, that I could run on my production servers, to give me some statistics of the block sizes that the users are actually performing on the production server.

RODBC, IODBC and Mac OS X
Dear All, As some of you in the archive, i am experiencing problems in using RODBC with IODBC on Mac OS X Panther. I am currrently facing two problems. The first one is apparently linked with IODBC (according to returned R error message) although testing the database access from IODBC manager seems to work fine. The second is by far more radical, R purely and simply reports an error ,

Hey Guys, I'm trying to install R on an SGI IRIX 5.3 machine. I'm having trouble getting R to use POSIX regular expressions. Here is the error message I get when I run help: > help() Error in gsub(pattern, replacement, x, ignore.case, extended) : POSIX regular expressions not available I looked through the R-help archives and I found a few tips concerning the problem. I tried them

I have an ibook G4 (powerpc) running OS X panther. I am using gcc 4.0.3 installed from Darwin Ports to compile llvm. FXO registration and VegaStream
I am trying to configure a VegaStream 50 FXO to work with asterisk. The problem that I am having is that the VegaStream does not support incoming registration from asterisk. VegaStream only allows outbound registration. My question is does asterisk allow incoming registration from an FXO? If yes how? Or better yet, has anybody been able to make the VegaStream FXO work with asterisk? According

OS X 10.4.1 ( Tiger ) client borked
Appears Apple messed something up in 10.4,and 10.4.1. Attempting to connect to a 3.0.14a server (debian unstable) from an OS X client causes OS X Finder to hang, and puts these errors in the samba server logs: [2005/05/22 21:48:20, 0] rpc_parse/parse_prs.c:prs_mem_get(537) prs_mem_get: reading data of size 2 would overrun buffer. Project Management Software
I have a need to use a project management software package under Centos 6.6 and have started looking at ProjectLibre which is a Java package. Unfortunately it seems to have shortcomings when it comes to following up projects and my current understanding is that it falls short of Microsoft Project 2010, i.e., a previous version. Does anyone have experience with this type of software and what

RAqua package installation on Panther
From the RAqua faq just uploaded to CRAN (so it will take until tomorrow to appear) Panther notes After installing Panther (MacOSX 10.3) it turns out that package installation (either from sources or from binaries) can fail. If you get an error "like" this (this comes from source package installation) dyld: gcc version mismatch for library: /usr/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib
