DreamHost and ActionMailer
I''m getting ready to sign up with DreamHost, but my application is
missing the ActionMailer features.
First, can anyone provide some real code to send an email upon comment
submission?
Second, is it easy to setup ActionMailer on a DreamHost server?
Thanks!

Actionmailer not working [no errors]
hi,
I have a little problem with actionmailer 2.0.2
The problem is that I am trying to send mails and development.log says
that everything is ok but I can''t find any mails in my mailbox.
I checked my sendmail with PHP function "mail()" - works nice.
/var/log/mail.log don''t drop any lines when sending mails with

So in conclusion no errors and no way to

ActionMailer and Dreamhost
Hello,
I am running my RoR app on localhost and am trying to implement
ActionMailer. In my environment.rb config file, I am pointing to my
smtp server on Dreamhost:
ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail
ActionMailer::Base.server_settings = {
:address => ''mail.domain.info'',
:port => 25,

1.9 Compat and merging mail gem into ActionMailer
Hi all of both RoR Core and TMail.
You may know me better as the maintainer of TMail.
However, TMail has been a bit difficult to get working with Ruby 1.9,
so in the light of that, I sat down over the past few months and wrote
myself an all encompasing mail gem. Mail passes all of its hundreds
of specs equally well in Ruby 1.8.6, 1.8.7 and 1.9.1. Mail reads
every email in the TMail test suite

ActionMailer cannot use SMTP for email delivery...
RoR aficionados,
I''ve configured ActionMailer for SMTP delivery of emails, and have
configured "config/environment.rb" accordingly, including the address of
our (external, but fully operational - checked and double-checked :-)
SMTP server.
Sending out emails from my Windows development laptop works without a
hitch, but on a Linux staging server using the exact same source

ActionMailer/SMTP: Net::SMTPSyntaxError when message body contains only a 'dot'
FYI:
I don''t think this is a very well know. It seems that, on some
operating systems, ActionMailer/SMTP crashes when it sends an email
with only a ''.'' (aka a ''dot'' or a ''period''). Specifically, you get
Net::SMTPSyntaxError (502 Error: command not implemented):

ActionMailer
Is there a way to connect to a SMTP server that requires TLS since
ActionMailer doesn''t support it?
Thanks,
Lantis.

ActionMailer + ISP SMTP
Hi
I''m new here, and pretty much new on the rails.
I''m trying to set up my application to send emails (needed for salted
hash login)
but i keep getting errors.
i''m sure port 25 is not blocked since i''m able to
send mails
through PHP scripts.
my smtp settings in config/enviroment.rb are:

ActionMailer cancel send from one of deliver_* methods
Seems like executing a return in one of the deliver_* methods of
ActionMailer doesn''t cancel the delivery. The template is still read
right after the return method has been executed and because all
variables in the template are empty, all kinds of errors occur.
I need to validate the email (and test whether it actually exists)
before a delivery is made and I''m trying to put all

problems getting ActionMailer working (on server)
Hi,
I''ve read the Agile Rails book''s chapter on ActionMailer a few times.
Seems pretty straight forward. Unfortunately I can''t get my
application to actually send mail.
I uploaded my application to the web server and tried to get a mail
message sent. Nothing happened. I looked in the log file and it says

Action Mailer Driving me insane
Ok, maybe its a short walk, not a drive...
I have it working just fine using smtp in development env from my OSX
machine. When I deploy it to the server (which happens to be the same
box where the smtp server lives), no email, no errors, nothing in the
Postfix logs.
I''ve double checked that my production and development action mailer
settings are identical. Here''s whats in the

Has anyone run function tests on ActionMailer?
I am running function tests to see if ActionMailer mails out an email.
I have two development machines, both with rails 1.1.6. On one
machine, the ActionMailer::Base.deliveries array resets itself after
each test. On the other machine, the array keeps accumulating the
emails from the previous function tests and doesn''t clear out the
array after each test.
Both machines have identical

Can't send email from my mac?
Do I need to do anything special to test the ActionMailer to make sure
it emails? I''m developing locally on my macbook pro. I made a simple
test method straight out of a book that I know works and I''m not getting
any email. Do I need to turn on a service? Open a port?
Thanks for your help.

ActionMailer outside of Rails?
Does anyone know of issues using ActionMailer outside of Rails? I''m
already selectively using ActiveRecord, so I thought perhaps I could use
ActionMailer as well. (To solve one of those last minute "And could you
make the app email me if it throws any errors" questions that was never
in the original spec...)
When I built a single file to test with, it worked fine and I

help debugging ActionMailer with restful_authentication?
In a nutshell, I''m using restful_authentication that emails the user
when they sign up for an account
The development.log file shows the body of the e-mail message being
prepped to send out, but doesn''t show confirmation that it made it.
When I use gmail''s SMTP server, a Rails exception is thrown because
gmail expects an encrypted connection. A different type of Rails
