I''ve done local installs of ruby-1.8.4, then rubygems-0.8.11, then:
% gem install rails
I get rails and its dependencies all going into:

i.e.
/local/pkgs/ruby-1.8.4/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rails-1.1.2

Happy Holidays,
I am new to RoR and have just run through the install, which well
seemed to be vaquely documented as some ''Do this'' type of thing on
the http://rubyonrails.org/download page.
download gem
setup.rb
gem install rails
rails path/to/your/new/application
cd path/to/your/new/application
ruby script/server

Trouble updating to Rails 2.0
I recently updated my gems and first I got an error with Rails.
Aparently, Rails 2.0 has a dependency on ActiveResource, but the gems
dont install it as a dependency. At least not when upgrading from
1.2.6 to 2.0
Then, when I try to freeze the gems to generate the new documentation,
I get the following error:
gabriel@fenix:~/dummy$ rake rails:freeze:gems --trace

First, I gathered the app''s folder (checked the contents, it has all
