WISP-survey part of created area?
Dear R-Team! I am a beginner in R and use the WISP library for a project. I am using mark-recapture to estimate abundance. I would like to know if it is possible to only survey a part of the created area (with the created population) and not all of it. I am trying to quantify bias introduced by non random sampling design (i.e. the area is 24x100 but I only wanna search 24x40) Thank you already in

Help getting info from caller
Hello. Happy New Year to everyone. I have a small WISP and would like to have customers to call our number to check their balance. I am planning on writing an AGI with php so it can get the customer info from the customer database. I don't know how to interact with the caller while in the agi script so this is what I have in mind: [test-agi] exten => 33,1,Answer() exten =>

Archive of "bad" things during rsync?
Hi, Wouldn't you know, I can't get rsync to throw an error during a copy. :) I need to put together some instructions for a guy that runs a WISP for him to look over before weekly backups are made (I'll be copying the files to /dev/null so any read errors can be caught). I can do the simple : rsync warning: some files vanished before they could be transferred (code 24) at

packages for ecologists
Hello R-user, sorry for this very off-topic question. But I shall present R to my dept. (pro's and con's and what it can do). The pro's and con's are easy but not what R can do (additional to the "normal" statistics). I looked through the packages, but the enormous amount of packages makes it very difficult for me to decide which one is worth mentioning. I used

Mail server setup for small ISP
Hi, I will probably have to design an e-mail (and other components) infrastructure for a small ISP soon (WISP). I'm doing some research to determine which components would be best to offer e-mail services to their client and allow the staff to manage accounts easily. I usually use virtual machines a lot for isolation and easy backups and migration (when a hardware node is

Boot Bug
Hi I have noticed that some versions of syslinux later than 1.66 fail to install a working boot block on a CF card in Soekris net4521 board. The Bios is: comBIOS ver. 1.05 20020419 Copyright (C) 2000-2001 Soekris Engineering. The card is a 64M Sandisk and I am useing a version of LEAF called WISP-dist but I also experianced the same problem with the Bering distro. Here is my syslinux.cfg:

Request suitability comments
Hello: I'm trying to find a search tool for a website I am planning. The many CMS packages I've tried fall short when it comes to configurable search modules. I'd appreciate comments/suggestions on the suitability of Xapian given the following: a) the web site under development will have upwards of 1500 URL links to other Internet locations. b) each URL will have --

Question about suitability of rsync utility
Hi there, I would like to ask a quick question to the experts on this mailing list. If it has already been answered please pardon me (and point me to the location where I can view the answer). I have a need to setup a mirror for an NFS file system exported from a NetApp Filer device (based on BSD Unix 4.x) to a Sun server. About 100,000+ very small files get written to this file system every day

R suitability for development project
Hello All, Eric Langley here with my first post to this list. I am looking to determine if R is suitable for a development project I am working on and if so possibly finding someone proficient in R that would be interested in doing the coding. I would like to preface my inquiry that while I am not a programmer I can communicate in a dialog my objectives. An array of rank ordered data looks like

CentOS Stream suitability as a production webserver
Le 06/01/2021 ? 08:06, Gordon Messmer a ?crit?: > Are you describing an actual problem, right now, or is that an invented example? No, this was an actual problem I had back in April 2020. Upgrading from CR broke imagemagick, so I couldn't use the corresponding PHP modules, so my Roundcube installation was broken for a few weeks. One of the things I like about Oracle Linux is that they

Suitability of speex for use with noisy, non-voice source material?
Question from new subscriber - I'm working on a project to connect to remotely connect to a short-wave receiver via a dial-up PPP/IP circuit. Turns out the dial-up circuit is only stable (useful) to 14.4 kbps (faster modem training produces so many link errors that the net circuit quality is unusable - one end is in a remote, rural location), so looking for codec that can fit within this

Suitability of speex for use with noisy, non-voice source material?
Hello Jean-Marc, I have completed some very basic testing with unexpectedly excellent results. I am posting this to the reflector to encourage others into similar experiments. My experiment consisted of processing a 200-second long sample taken from a ham radio shortwave receiver, with a variety of signals (some strong, some weak - that is, weaker signals have more noise, and the noise is

Suitability of R for Algorithm simulations
Greetings, Sorry for the basic question, but I am trying to find out if R is a suitable platform for what I want to do... I am interested in creating simulations of distributed algorithms (i.e. team formation, Byzantine Generals , P2P communication modeling, mobile networks) that would be represented in GUIs. I would like to be able to instantiate an object for each node in my simulated

Provider suitability reports
As promised, I''m trying to extra more data out of Puppet''s internals, and this is one I''ve been wanting to do ever since I developed the idea of provider suitability. I''ve created new type of ''reference'' (although it''s more of a report than a reference) that can tell you which providers are functional on the current platform,

Dead wood code
Is there a package, or does anyone have code they are willing to share, that would allow me to simulate sampling of dead wood pieces across an area? I am specifically looking for code to simulate the dead wood distribution as small line segments across an extent, and then I will "sample" the dead wood using different sampling techniques including line transects, fixed area plots, etc.

CentOS Stream suitability as a production webserver
Hello I've recently discovered the announcement regarding the change in direction for the CentOS project and I imagine like many others, I'm confused and concerned about what this means moving forward. I work for a small web development agency and we offer hosting as part of our package to clients who need it. We have many CentOS 7 web servers (DigitalOcean droplets) (LAMP/LEMP) that I

Cordless VoIP Phones and Access Point hand-off?
I have a situation where we have an asterisk box that is extending several Mitel PBX extensions to some cordless SIP phones (Cisco WIP310). Everything works great, except when the cordless phone walks out of range of one access point and into range of another (cisco 1100 series APs). I've been able to get virtually seamless roaming between access points to work in the past with data but
