ActionMailer cancel send from one of deliver_* methods
Seems like executing a return in one of the deliver_* methods of
ActionMailer doesn''t cancel the delivery. The template is still read
right after the return method has been executed and because all
variables in the template are empty, all kinds of errors occur.
I need to validate the email (and test whether it actually exists)
before a delivery is made and I''m trying to put all

ActionMailer doesn''t send any mail
I''ve configured actionmailer following the documentation, adding to
environment.rb everything for using my mail account on yahoo using
deliver_* methods to send a mail.
I can see the mail in development.log and everything seems fine, but
no mails so far.
Is there a place where can I see what the server answered, or
something to look at to solve the problem ? I have no clue,

Validate your forms with a table-less model

getting winbindd errors on OS X Server 10.6.6
All,
I am attempting to resolve an issue that our OS X Server is having. It's running 10.6.6 and samba 3.0.28a-apple. In the last two weeks we've been rebooting this server multiple times a day because it stops responding to smb requests. A look at the logs reveal the following two error messages repeated hundreds of times:
6/17/11 6:18:00 PM /usr/sbin/winbindd[231] dnssd_clientstub

Best Practices Question
Should models call action mailers, or should those calls always
originate from controllers? For example, should user.forgot_password
send the email, or should the user_controller.forgot_password?
Just looking for some opinions...
Thanks,
Tom

ActionMailer and PDF Attachment and corrupt file?
Community,
I''m struggling with an issue and I''m sure it is trivial but I cannot find the solution. I''m trying to attach a PDF file to an email. For simplicity, I have explicitely named a given file but when I get the email, the attachment is only a partial of the document which causes it to be corrupt. Sample below:
@recipients =

ActionMailer outside of Rails?
Has anyone used ActionMailer outside of rails? I have a requirement for
work that will not allow me to do this from within a rails app. I have
successfully sent an email in the following manner:
MyMailer.deliver_clever_email(someArg,''testing!'')
where the second argument is the body of the email, but when I try to
call just:
MyMailer.deliver_clever_email(someAr)
and use a

MiddleMan.new_worker => nil
I''ve been checking out all the async gems and plugins for Rails, and
decided to give BackgroundRb a shot. Unfortunately, I''ve not even been
able to get past the initial stages.
Whenever I call MiddleMan.new_worker, it invariably returns nil. The
log file remains empty.
I''ve only tried this from the console so far. If I can''t even do this
successfully,

ActionMailer undefined method `parameters' - Rails 2.1
Hello Rubyists,
I''m currently trying to get email hooked up via ActionMailer, and while
I''ve gotten it to work in the past on Rails 1.2.x, I''m seeing an error
that I''m unfamiliar with.
Right now, I''m just trying to send email from my dev box via the SMTP
server at work.
My development.rb file:

Actionmailer sending many emails in same SMTP connection?
Hi,
I need to implement a mailing list system,
Actionmailer is great, but i haven''t found out a way to send many
(hundreds of) emails without having to reconnect to the SMTP server for
each mail when calling
Mymailer::deliver_my_mail(recipient)
Any tips?
(Possibly without calling directly Net::SMTP, so i can take advantage
of the rhtml rendering of the body)
Thanks,
Best regards,

How to set ''Return-Path'' in ActionMailer to avoid SPF failure?
I was wondering if there was any way to set the ''Return-Path'' of an
email when using ActionMailer. Without the ability to set the
''Return-Path'' of an email, it is impossible to avoid being labeled as
''spam'' by many SMTP gateways if trying to send mail on another''s
behalf. SPF doesn''t care about the

Rails 0.8: Just shy of 100 additions, changes, tweaks, and fixes!
It''s been fifty days since our last confession, so it''s no wonder that
this outpouring is by far the biggest yet in Rails history. It''s
absolutely packed with goodies ranging from a whole new framework for
sending email to the smallest new alias for an existing method. In
total we''re just shy of 100 additions, changes, tweaks, and fixes.

Rookie with ActionMailer
To start out I''ll say that this is the first thing that I''ve ever built
that''s been intended to programmatically send email. I''m looking at
examples in AWR and also on the wiki. I feel that I sort of have things
set up right but I''m getting an error I can''t grok:
