Shorewall 4.4.6 and Multiple ISP with 2 routed subnets
Hello,
I have 2 ISP uplinks (zones: inet1 and inet2), each with a fixed IP on the outside and a routed subnet (/25 and /26) on the inside. So, behind the firewall i have 2 networksegments (lan1 and lan2) with public IP-addresses. The segments are completely isolated from eachother: hosts in zone "lan1" connect only to "inet1" and hosts in zone "lan2" only connect

running a background task/thread in rails?
Hi, I am new to ruby and to rails, but I like what I see so far. I have
been working on a web app in java (servlets and JSPs) that, based on a
request from the user, kicks off a thread in the background to perform a
task (puts messages in an MQSeries queue). The thread object is stored
in the session and I then allow the user to control the task from the
browser(like stop it).
Is the same

Hi all,
If you're looking at a Windows server to Linux & Samba migration

right usage of bdrb
Hi,
i''m going to implement a syndication-service, which will get lists in
xml with some meta-data an enclosed video files, which will get encoded
at the end. The syndication run will be startet every five minutes of
a full hour.
So i thought to build 4 Worker. One for checking which feeds to
syndicate (syndication_worker) at a specific time, one for processing

Moving to 1.8.1: can you transfer your package list?
I prefer to use R on a linux box and ultimately need things to end up
there to serve things up using David Firth's excellent CGIwithR and
apache, but one step at a time and I've installed 1.8.1 under win2k.
Another question that I'm sure is simple: is there a simple way to
find the list of installed libraries I had in my 1.7.1 installation
and use that to drive install.packages?

using Skype on C-7
Hi
I've whined about this before, but now I feel the overwhelming urge
to whine some more. Forgiveness begged... :)
I've spent some very frustrating times trying to get a microphone
to work when doing skype calls.
According to the various sound tools available on Centos all the various
mics I have (built into webcam, analog headset, USB headset)produce
sound just fine.

printers: access denied -- but why?
I am running 2.2.3a-12.3 on Debian stable with Win2k machine and an
XP machine on a small home network. I have only just started using
printer support and seemed to have it fine with a postscript and a
"raw" connection for the HP LJ5MP printer (with internal PS) working
fine from W2k and WXP. Then I took the server down as I'll need
another parallel port in it. Rebooted after

1.8.1 on Debian stable
This has probably been addressed here, but I can't find it if it has,
and it may be up on the R project homepage or the CRAN pages, but if
so ....
... so sorry if this has been answered before: question is, can I
upgrade to 1.8.1 under Debian stable (a.k.a. "Woody")? The deb
packages in the CRAN archive are clearly for 1.8.0 and those in the
"unstable" distro for

General Question about route generation Rails 2+
I have been searching for the definitive answers regarding routes and
new controllers, so far no clear statement: Rails 2+ route
generation, is it done only once at start up of mongrel? Is this only
a dependency on how mongrel does things - looking for updates of
config files on the fly or is it a Rails limitation?
You see I also have used servlets and JSP, it seems there you can add
new jars
