Close Modalpopup with RJS
hi guys: I''m scratching my head on this one: I have a twitter app where I''m trying to open a modalpopup with a twitter sign in, get them to sign in, then close the popup and refresh the main window. My code however refreshes the main window with the popup window result, which I thought was really strange: application.html.erb function OpenModalPopUP() {

[PATCH] Add SCRAM-SHA-1 password scheme
Hello, attached is an hg export on top of the current dovecot-2.2 branch, which adds support for a SCRAM-SHA-1 password scheme. Ideally I'd want doveadm pw's rounds flag to apply to this, but that's currently specific to the crypt password scheme, so I left it out for now. Modules, controllers and inheritance
Hi! I was trying to cleanup my app and I runned into quite a problem. My controllers in submodule do not seem to inherit things from base class. I have following setup: app/controllers/ application.rb: class ApplicationController admin/ admin_controller.rb: class Admin::AdminController < ApplicationController include LoginEngine include UserEngine

wrap_parameters and Single Table Inheritance
I''m using wrap_parameters and ActiveRecord''s single table inheritance pattern. I have a base class "Entity", and two types derived from it: "Person" and "Group". What I''d like to do is PUT a Person or Group object to EntityController#update. Unfortunately, this causes wrap_parameters to wrap for type "Entity" instead of

filter function with parameter
Hi! I want to add a function with a static paramter ("2" in the example) to a filter, but somehow Rails seems to be looking for another syntax. before_filter :check_quantity(2), :only => [:show] doesn''t work. What''s the right way to do this? Thanks a lot! -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Send parameter along with method in before_filter
Hello list, I have an app that has a very simple authorization scheme. A person can have many roles and roles can have many people. In my app, I''d like to do before_filter :login_required (since no role name is provided, it accepts any users with credentials) before_filter :login_required ("administrator") (only accepts those with role administrator) before_filter

before_filter with multiple roles
I have multiple roles in my application. Now I want to block a method for all users except the administrator and a manager. When I do this: before_filter (:check_administrator_role), :only => [:administration] before_filter (:check_taskmanager_role), :only => [:administration] The user must have both roles. How can I change that to an "OR" combination? -- Posted via

I have been scratching my head on this one for most of the day. Hopefully someone can help explain why before_filter isn''t working for my codes. In my Application controller, I have this: before_filter :login_required, :except => [:newacct, :create_newacct, :passwd_reset ] def login_required unless session[:user_id] flash[:notice] = "Please log in"

Yet another dry question..
One of these days I''ll figure this out, but in the meantime help me be a better programmer by eliminating some excess code: I''m trying to check to see if somebody trying to view/edit/update a product is the owner. In my scaffold I have this code that works: def edit @owner = Product.find(params[:id].to_i) if @owner.user_id == @user.id @product =

[Idea] session-wide persistent variables
I was thinking about having instance variable stored and fetched from session container automatically before calling an action and after the action is finished. Using methodology of accessors it would look like: class MyController < ActionController::Base persistent_attr :person def alfa person = ''John Smith'' # render as usual view alfa.rhtml with anchor

Can you have multiple before filters?
Hi, Is it possible to specify multiple before filters in a controller... here''s the thing: only one set of filters is to use the :except option. Something like: before_filter :check_for_session_cookie before_filter :validate_user :except =>[''login''] which I use to a) check if the user has returned to the site and has a saved cookie holding login details b) check

before_filter and the application controller
Hi there, I''m having a bit of an issue with my before_filter. I know that the filters put in the application.rb controller are global for all the controllers. In my application filter I''d like to allow access to the RSS feed method in a ''member'' controller and skip the login checks that the before_filters are currently performing. In my application my filters
