ID of adapter in migrations
Rails 2.3
How does one identify the adapter that a migration is using? I have
some SQL code that only applies if the postgresql adapter is involved
and I wish to put my execute method inside a suitable conditional.
However, I cannot see a way to get this information from an instance of
ActiveRecord::Migration. Nonetheless, some means must exist for
migrations to work.
How do I ID the DBMS

Eager Loading + Confusion
So I''m trying to do a find with an order by specific column values
thing, but some of the columns are attributes through associations.
So I did some eager loading with the :include option to try and access
the attributes of the object I''m doing the find on. Stuff has been
blowing up on me so far.
Here''s the code in the controller right now:
sort_by = params[:sort_by]

Eager load associations in Oracle problem with more than 1000 records
I think Rails 2.1 introduced a bug when eager loading of associations
with Oracle. In 2.1 ActiveRecord loads the included table with a big
''IN'' query: ''where association.id in (1, 2, 3, 4...)''. The problem
is that Oracle has a hard limit of 1000 values in an IN clause. I get
this error:
''OCIError: ORA-01795: maximum number of expressions in a list

ActiveRecord: Nested :include erroneous behavior
Hi,
Found a simple example breaking on moving to 2.2 from 2.0. This
example illustrates the usage of nested :include finder options.
class Book < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :distributors
end
class Distributor < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :book
has_many :agents
end
class Agent < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :distributor
has_many :shops

Help with error "undefined method `downcase' for nil:NilClass" after migration
Hi all,
I have a rails 1.5.2 application. I''ve frozen the application via the
"rake rails:freeze:gems" command. This application worked well on a server
I previously had it installed on. My server was getting really slow, and I
requested that I be moved to a new server. When I perform a "gem list
rails" command on my new host, I receive only version 1.2.6. Since

ActiveRecord 2.1 Migration support
Hi all,
I am in the process of adding Migration support to the Ingres
ActiveRecord adapter and have run in to a problem. During the call to
create_table the Ingres adapter some how causes ruby to blow the stack
and coredump/segv. I have tracked down the problem down to
"add_column_options!" in
"lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract/schema_statements.rb".

Plugins and the test environment
Hi guys. I''m writing a plugin for use in the test environment.
However, when I run ``rake test'''' or ``rake spec'''', RAILS_ENV is set
to "development" when my plugin''s init.rb is run.
How do you configure a plugin to load require a file in the test
environment?
Thanks,
Nick

Eager loading ActiveRecord objects
I have a complex graph of ActiveRecord entities that I want to load with
one big honkin'' join query to avoid ripple loading. It''s for a report.
However :include doesn''t get me all the way there because I want to load
parents of parents (or children of children). I don''t mind doing the
SQL by hand but I''m not quite sure what to do to get the result

Problem with MYSQL after re-installing rails
Hey all-
Re-installed OSX yesterday and with it, Ruby and Rails
Now when I try to run db:migrate I get the error message:
"!!! The bundled mysql.rb driver has been removed from Rails 2.2.
Please install the mysql gem and try again: gem install mysql.
Rake aborted!
no such file to load -- mysql"
So, I try sudo gem install mysql -- --with-mysql-dir=/usr/local/mysql
