Was "Inflector" moved in Rails 2.0?
Trying to place the following code in my "environment.rb" file is throwing an "uninitialized constant Inflector (NameError)". Did they move where these types of customized rules were supposed to be declared? ******CODE****** Inflector.inflections do |inflect| inflect.uncountable("media") end -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Inflector::pluralize("Agencies")=="Agency" ?
The result of Inflector::pluralize("Agency") is correctly "Agencies", but pluralize again and it goes back to the singular ? Is this as expected ? Also, I have a need to know if a word is singular or plural, and to convert it to one or the other regardless of it already being so. Anyway, I''ve written these which seem to work. Do they already exist somewhere ? def

NameError Exception
Ruby/Rails n00b here so go easy on me... I''ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out what is wrong here. I''ve checked all my models for the appropriate belongs_to, has_many, etc. I''ve checked to make sure I''m using singular and plurals in the right spot. I''ve checked my syntax around all my "within"''s and nothing seems to fix

Cooky Cookies
Hi All, I have a problem with the stemming(?) in rails. I have a table cookie and a Cookie model which I have generated a scaffold for. The problem is that rails starts looking for a file that it calls "cooky.rb", this must be some kind of misunderstanding between me and rails, but how do I correct it? Other scaffolds work just fine. /Hugo NameError in Cookie#index uninitialized

Inflector stops on the first match
Hi there. I''m checking the Inflector code there and found, for example, on singularize: inflections.singulars.each { |(rule, replacement)| break if result.gsub!(rule, replacement) } This means that when it finds the first match, it breaks and stops processing rules? And what if I need to deal with more that one rule on the same string? For example, working on the middle and the end

Rails' inflections are messy
Yesterday, I opened a GitHub Issue<https://github.com/rails/rails/pull/7071> about moving Rails inflections to an initializer. The idea wasn''t received well, understandably, as generating a large initializer with new Rails apps is pretty unappealing. However, the core members seemed open to the discussion of alternatives continuing here. For those of you not in the know,

Cooky cookies causes trouble
Hi All, Yesterday wrote about my troubles with naming a table and model cookies and cookie respectively. I know that everybody hates the newbie screaming bug as soon as he encounters behaviour he doesn''t understand. But I''ve reproduced the error in the simplest application possible, and dare therefore say that this quite possible could be a bug in Rails. Database: CREATE TABLE

Hi-- I''m trying to do a first migration (2.3.5). I generated a model "Video", but when I try to migrate I get "uninitialized constant Videos". Why is it trying to find a plural class name? Here''s more complete output: trans@logisys:models$ rake db:migrate --trace ** Invoke db:migrate (first_time) ** Invoke environment (first_time) ** Execute environment **

Table called applications - causes stack overflow?
Having worked through Four Days on Rails and the book Agile Web Development with Rails I decided it was time to start a live project. I have an existing application with MySQL database, so I modified the schema to use Rails standard column names. The main table was named ''applications''. ruby script/generate scaffold Application Admin results a stack overflow
