Dreamhost FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) errors
Sorry to trouble the list with another Dreamhost problem, but looking
through the archives I see nothing that can solve my problem.
I have installed my app as per
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Ruby_on_Rails#Quick_Start_Guide_August_2006
with a symbolic link from my_domain.tld in ~/ to
~/apps/residence/public/
I get the Rails welcome screen. I have uploaded my app directory etc,

WebDAV library for fastcgi/webbrick
Hello,
I am trying to find a WebDAV library for Ruby that works with fastcgi
(production) and Webbrick (development).
I''ve found this link which mentions a Webbrick WebDAV library:
http://redhanded.hobix.com/inspect/
webrickWebdavHandlerSafelyExtractedFromTheWild.html
Unfortunately it sounds limited to Webbrick which will not suit the
production environment.
Does anyone know of a

FastCgi/OCI8 problem
Hi,
I''m having problems running my rails application in the following
setup Unix/Apache/FastCgi/Oracle10g.
I had my app running quite happy until I installed the OCI8 driver.
When I try to load the app I get in the apache logs the famous
"undefined method ''define_a_column'' for class OCI8:Cursor (NameError)"
I think the problem is with the fastcgi set up

FastCGI and large file uploads
I use dreamhost for my hosting provider, and I am working on app where
it requires large files (max 10 MB) to be uploaded to the server. As
of right now the fastcgi processes are configured with:
FastCgiConfig -autoUpdate -initial-env RAILS_ENV=production \
-idle-timeout 120 -maxClassProcesses 5 -killInterval 300
My problem is that I try and upload a file via the web that is around

Troubleshooting tips for getting Apache/RailsApp/Dreamhost
Hi,
Background: I''m currently stuck getting my basic rails application
working on dreamhost. I have gone throught the doco. Note that I can
via my unix account run "ruby script/server" and get the application
working via webbrick. The problem I am having is that trying to go to
the app via the normal apache approach my browser just sits and spins
with nothing coming

Max Execution Time with fastcgi (and in general). Getting it done.
The purpose of this email is not to argue that there is a need to
have the option of killing a single response if it
takes longer than say 30 seconds. This is a worthwhile feature, years
of work in php has shown me that it is.
Thanks to a bit of help from various source in the community, I''ve
been able to find something that works with fastcgi
and surely should work with webbrick.

Rails, FCGI, DreamHost, and endless frustrations
Hi all!
I''m trying to deploy an application out to a subdomain at dreamhost. I am
getting the dreaded "Rails application failed to start properly" error. The
logs for my app are empty. In the DreamHost FTP app, when I look in the
error.log file (I''m guessing this the Apache error log file) I see the
following for each of my attempts:

Dreamhost, fastcgi, validates_uniqueness_of.... is not always unique?
Hey everyone,
I have an application running on dreamhost with fast cgi (FCGI). I have a
model, "Member", that has the following validation:
validates_uniqueness_of :email, :if =>
Proc.new{|member| !member.email.blank?}
The :if clause is really not needed because an email address is required and
in fact the model also has:
validates_presence_of :email

ActiveResource - xml and json format return different results
Hi,
I''m using Rails 2.1.2. and I wanted to switch ActiveResource format to
JSON and thought that it will work smoothly, but unfortunately it
wasn''t the case.
XML and JSON formats generate different objects:
XML version
#<User:0xb7658440 @prefix_options={}, @attributes={"created_at"=>Mon
Nov 28 11...}>
JSON version
#<User:0xb746af5c @prefix_options={},

Interoperating ActiveResource and ActionController::Responder
I''ve just created a pull request to finally make ActiveResource correctly handle validation errors returned from ActionController::Responder''s default JSON handling code. The code also handles the format produced by pre-3.2 Responders *and* the format previously expected by ActiveResource, so it shouldn''t break in any application that was working before.

FastCGI without ScriptAlias
Hi,
I made some experiments with the sample blog application, my index.fcgi
file contains the following:
require ''camping/fastcgi''
Camping::Models::Base.establish_connection(
:adapter => ''sqlite3'',
:database => ''database/camping.db''
)
Camping::FastCGI.serve(''blog.rb'')
Without ScriptAlias the application works fine,

I have an ActiveResource model that loads imperfectly structured json
from a third party service. I need to catch response before its parsed
by the model and make a few corrections on the json.
How should I go about doing this?

"uninitialized constant" error when I go to app base URL???
Hi,
I''m getting the below attached error when I navigate to the root of my
web application on my hosting site (dreamhost.com), however in
development it works fine. Any ideas?
That is I have one controller so the direct URL is
"http://mydomain.com/contacts". This works on dreamhost and locally.
BUT when I go to "http://mydomain.com/" this works locally (on

rails threads / contexts / fastcgi - can someone explain ???
Hi,
Would someone be able to explain how ruby class/object contexts work
from the point of view of a deployed rails application using FASTCGI and
noting there are multiple Ruby processes running (say on dreamhost for
example). Some questions to help clarify what I''m trying to understand:
a) how do incoming URL requests get spread across the multiple Ruby
processes (let''s

500 error while trying to run Camping on Dreamhost
I''ve tried setting up an Hello World app with Rails (no database), on a
Dreamhost account. I used the configuration I found here
http://www.mail-archive.com/camping-list at rubyforge.org/msg00114.html with
the proper paths. But I keep getting Internal Server Errors (500). On the
error.log I found this
