Can't pass parameters to Ziya controller using url_for
Hi All,
I''m stuck yet again. I have an action on a controller that produces a
Ziya graph, which I call using the gen_chart() helper. However, I can''t
seem to pass more than one parameter through to the action.
<%= gen_chart( "overview_graph",
url_for( :controller => ''graph'', :action => ''graph'', :graph_id =>

Generating Images/PDF Server-Side
Hi,
I am working on a project where I need to generate a chart (a bit like a
pie chart, but very customised) and insert this into a PDF document.
Does anybody have any advice on ruby libraries (or other techniques) for
doing this? Open to suggestions?
The resulting PDF will be designed for printing and so ideally should be
vector throughout (or any raster images 300dpi). I was thinking of some

Macromedia Flash Loading Issues
I''ve discovered something very odd about the way Rails is handling
Flash media. I am attempting to load a partial that contains the code
for a flash adverstisment for the website. It was working ok when the
code was in the page, but once I pulled it out to a partial (so I
could use it on other pages) it stopped working.
<%= render(:partial =>

Flash charts with live update and slider
Does anyone know of any good Rails-friendly Flash charts that have
1. Live AJAX-type update of data (without reloading entire Flash
chart)
2. Horizontal axis slider to be able to zoom in (like the time slider
on Google Finance)
I have been using XML/SWF charts but find that its live update is
clunky
Thanks! Chirag

Unable to browse or open Macromedia flash 8 .flas
I'm unable to browse flash 8 .flas. This is a pc with 7.10.
When I am able to browse .flas, I get an error when trying to open them.
I've even copied the .flas to the wine drive_c folder to see if that would make a difference but it didn't. All of the .flas that I have are in file format flash 8 or earlier. I even tried another pc with 8.04 installed and that didn't make a

Embeding R
Hi,
I'm planning to embed R into an application, with the following context:
- This application is written in Java (and managed with maven). I plan
accessing R using JRI.
- This application must be installable on several plateform (linux, mac
os, windows).
- The R engine must embed library, some of them having native code in C or
Fortran.
Does this sound reasonable? I would be very

empty files created with trellis xyplot jpeg device
New years greetings.
I have been setting up a function to generate multiple jpeg charts. When
the calls are issued at the interactive console, the jpeg files are
generated without an issue. When I try to issue the same calls from a
function, some chart files are empty. It appears to only be related to
trellis charts. Any help to troubleshoot this is appreciated.

Speex Decoding Issue
Dear Speex community,
I am having problems to get the Speex Decoding API to work properly in our project.
I am working in an embedded project with a very limited RAM and Flash memory and would like to use Speex encoded files to save memory while having good voice sounds in our speakers.

Gruff with PDF::Writer
Hello all
Has anyone managed to embed gruff graphs into a PDF document using
pdf::writer?
The easy way (as far as I can see) would be to just save the gruff graph
as a temporary file then read that file in pdf::writer. I was wondering
if anyone had managed to get them working together directly?
