Routing problems
Hi, I have some problems with my routing configuration. My router has two connections to the internet, eth1 (2Mbit) and ppp0 (ADSL). On the eth1 connection I do a –snat and on ppp0 I do masquerading. I use iptables to mark packets / connections in the -t mangle -A PREROUTING and OUTPUT chains. The marks (1 and 2) are used to decide which route do use to route a packet. My routing configuration:

I want to shaping FTP traffic.
Dear. folks I want to shaping FTP traffic. I can get following information from Stef Coene's Homepage, www.docom.org. "Ftp uses random ports, so matching the data traffic is not easy. However it can done if you use iptables to mark ftp-data packets and use that mark with the fw filter. For more info see http://home.regit.org/connmark.html. " General information about the conntrack

HTB: quantum of class 10001 is big. Consider r2q change.
Hi, I have this message in my syslog: HTB: quantum of class 10001 is big. Consider r2q change. I don''t know why it''s there. I think all my setup is right. I am shaping traffic from my web server. It lives at three IP addresses, first is fast (and most important - aaa.bbb.ccc.1), second slower (aaa.bbb.ccc.2), third slowest (aaa.bbb.ccc.3). Total bandwidth is 2700kBps. Other

I want to bring down the HTB rate to 3kbit-r2q? quantum?
Hello Stef, I am working on a Bandwidth management project as part of my college curriculum.I am running TCNG 10-b but I am not able to classify packets based on MAC address using tcng, so I am running tc commands in /tcng/bin and they are working. But is there a way out to classify packets based on MAC address using TCNG. And, I am successful in throttling down the Bandwidth to 8kbit

htb quantum/r2q problem/question
hello, i have a config that is with a large domain of rate, from 2kb to 40Mb and i have some problems with i don''t know how to deal with. so here are some classes 2 with q=1000, one with q 200000 and one with q=6400, all have been calculated by htb, in the code i speficien just rate, ceil, no quantum, no r2q, no bursts ($tc class add $IF_INT parent 1:2 classid 1:21 htb rate

htb v3 question - quantum and r2q again
Hello! One simple question regaring htb2->htb3 way. I''m using 2.4.25 kernel with tc3 from Devik''s site, RH9. My data flow is about 100Mbit duplex and is subject to grow, so I''m creating root class with 200Mbit rate, with r2q=10, quantum = rate/r2q, and 1500 < quantum < 200000 (sch_htb.c) with such r2q my default shaping window will be from 120Kbit to 16Mbit,

R2q Setting
Hello again, I need to change the R2Q for my script, as setting the quantum manually for each class is painful. Can you tell me exactly where to set R2Q = x? I get syntax errors all the time. Should it be specified for each class? I do not know where to place this setting... Thanks in advance, Vlad Mihai

r2q
Hello, I''ve installed htb3 on my simple config (htb + sfq) . Something is now complaining that quantum is too small and suggest that r2q be changed. There seems to be no documentation on this. Ideas anyone? Regards John

Consider r2q change, why !?
Hi, My system always complain with the warning below : HTB: quantum of class 10099 is small. Consider r2q change. I simply do not understand why... Below my tc commands : /sbin/tc qdisc del dev eth0 root /sbin/tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1 htb default 99 /sbin/tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:2 htb rate 128Kbit /sbin/tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:2 classid 1:10 htb rate 80Kbit

setting quantum values
Hi, when we add a class we get an error "HTB Quantum too small,or too big" i read in docum.org that we need to set the quantun value which should be >1500 and <60000. but i need to add classes with diff type of rates. eg : Min : 32 kbit and Max : 512 kbit. now in this case how do i set my quantum value which satifies all types of rates. Pls let me know,This is very urgent for

How to calculate HTB quantum
Hello all, I have a question about the quantum parameter of a HTB class: Is there a formula to calculate the quantum parameter of a class, having the rate and ceil as parameters? Sometimes, if I omit putting the quantum parameter for a class, I get a message like "HTB: quantum of class ..... is big/small. Consider r2q change" and shaping doesn''t work very smooth sometimes.

quantum message
Hey all, When I run my scripts to manage my ungodly slow school connection, I get messages about the quantum size being small and suggesting a r2q change. What is this all about, and should I do anything? my link is effectively 45kBps and I have it set to limit to 42kBps. Minimum time-quantum for a DomU
Hi, How can we know about the minimum time-quantum that a Xen scheduler allocates for a DomU? How big or less is that compared to the length of one jiffy? Please note that I''m not asking for a slice value within a period. In order to schedule a DomU for a total time of slice value within a period, what is the minimum time that a DomU would be scheduled by Hypervisor each time within a

HTB qdisc, why quantum <= 200000?
Hi, Can anybody explain to me why the upper limit of quantum of a HTB class is 200000? Why the author choose this number? What if we expand this number, for instant, 500000? Thank you in advance Dong _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list / LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/mailman/listinfo/lartc HOWTO: http://lartc.org/

Post quantum encryption question
Have people given thought to the private key encryption methods in light of potential quantum attacks? While the recent paper about breaking 50bit RSA doesn't pose a threat I've been thinking about future harvest now, decrypt later attacks against CC20 and AES. Are there post quantum ciphers that can effectively replace these available or in development? Is the threat still too far off to
