USPS Labels from Webapp
Hey everyone,
I have a requirement to integrate with the USPS to purchase shipping labels
(priority mail and express mail). So, I have seen a few gems that deal with
shipping but don''t have USPS support (shippinglogic) or have USPS support
but just for rate calculation and tracking, not label creation
(active_shipping).
I did encounter a gem that is supposed to do what I need

atheros chips dangerous?
Hello,
Possibly some of you will have read the news about "Hijacking a
Macbook in 60 Seconds or Less"[1]. At this time I was searching
a wireless card for my server and I wonder how this can affect
to the combination FreeBSD+ath(4).
The ath_hal page states that FreeBSD use a binary driver and
I think it is located in this file[2].
Unlike OpenBSD which affirms that they have

FARFON lives!
Some of you have been following our progress on
http://farfon.convergence.com.pk as we blundered our way through the
development of a low-cost ethernet IP phone that does IAX and augments the
client options currently available for the kick-assterisk server.
With help from the denizens of #asterisk and kind words of advice from Mr.
Spencer and the rest of the gang ... we're proud to have

VoipJet Terms of Service
I've heard good things about VoipJet here, so I was going to set up an
account. Then I noticed their Terms of Service here:
https://www.voipjet.com/tos.php
Several things there are very concerning to me, and I'm interested in
what other people here think of them.

financial, or government matters -- as well as any

Generic SingleTable inheritance
Hi all,
I would like to discuss a design idea I have in mind with you, in order
to get critical feedback.
ActiveRecord supports single table inheritance(STI) "per se", BUT you
must add all possible instance variables(properties) of all subclasses
to the "base table"(as columns). I would like to circumvent this
restriction.
Say we have a

Cyberpower 900AVR/BC900D newhidups problem
I'm trying to get nut to work with a Cyberpower 900AVR. There are many
different products known by this name, but this one has the extra name
'BC900D'.
I am told by a cyberpower tech that this one should talk exactly the
same USB protocol as the 685AVR, which was recently made to work with
newhidups.
Unfortunately, when I run the SVN checkout (trunk) of nut-2.1, I get:

Allegations regarding OpenBSD IPSEC
Some of you probably already read this:
http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-tech&m=129236621626462&w=2
Interesting...I wonder what is the impact of all this on FreeBSD code.
We may very well suppose that any government or corporation funded code
can theoretically have some kind of backdoor inside.

Multiple GPL violations including Samba in Auralic products
Hello,
I recently bought an Auralic Aries Mini streamer. This little streamer
can also function as a NAS when mounting a laptop drive or ssd inside,
via samba.
The box did not come with a media containing source code and did not
include a GPL written offer.
So I asked Auralic to provide the source code for all GPlv2 and v3
packages used.
For the Linux kernel and their modifications, they asked

Drivers for FORE systems cards under FreeBSD
I had originally mentioned this only to 2 people, which was Jordan
K. Hubbard and Paul Henning-Kemp, but since I have received a lot of
queries on this, I thought I might as well post it on the FreeBSD announce
groups.
Included below is a posting done on the Linux-atm mailing group, by
Pragnesh Sampat. I have just adapted for FreeBSD.

What's the best practice to protect rails code in a small company?
Hi fellows,
I''m starting a small company developing a SNS website and we are using
RoR. The concern we have right now is that we don''t want each of our
developers get the entire Rails code base of our project.
To my knowledge, there might be three pieces of ideas of potential
technical solutions for us. But since I don''t really have any so
called industrial experience

CNAM lookup: new method for Caller ID Name delivery
[cross-posted to -biz and -users since it could fall into either category]
Interesting new product that has been introduced that I think some
would be interested in here (at least, those users in the United
States and perhaps Canada): CNAM delivery via IP lookup.
The problem: inbound calls on many PRI connections, and also over
many VoIP providers, do not include caller name. This means that

origination providers
hi folks,
Has anyone found a good (and, ideally, cheap -- we don't really want any
per-minute charges) origination provider which can handle a moderate
number of simultaneous incoming calls (to the same, single DID)?
Many of the providers I've tried contacting either won't call me back,
or want me to sign an NDA just to get a rate quote, or some other
bullshit. Most of the

CDR_Oracle anybody?
Hi;
I've been playing around with various report writers on the cdr_mysql
table and I'm getting rather irritated. I started a thread a couple
weeks ago on "Billing Fun" and got a lot of good responses on how to get
an up-to-date copy of the NDA/NXX database, which I managed to retrieve
and bring into MySQL in a script from the various pieces of code people
posted... very nice.

Iframe shenanigans
Here''s my problem. Unfortunately I have the need to load up fully
qualified html documents
into my page. (think tens of thousands of mini sites). I also have the
need to be as handicap accessible as possible. (So ajax is essentially
out, screen readers aren''t up to snuff yet). Thus I''m using an iframe.
The unfortunate part
is that I have navigation menus that appear over

Level(3) SIP termination services
John,
I spoke with Level(3) last week regarding SIP termination. They
quoted $0.01/minute, with an 11 Million Minute / Month minimum.
