Newbie ADSL configuration, ppp0 can't activate & config not found
I am frustrated. This is a dual boot box, Win XP (Spanish) and CentOS 4.4. The phone company man came today and installed ADSL to the WinXP side and that works fine. I can't get the box online, while in CentOS 4.4. The ADSL router has a fixed IP address (192.168.1.1) and he configured it to get the IP from the ISP via DHCP and get the DNS servers automatically. When I try that on CentOS (which

Strange behavior from grep
Hi, It's been a long time since I've been noticing a strange behaviour from CentOS grep command. But today, I really need it. I have a file that has the word gamito inside of it. If I run $ grep 'gamito' file it returns nothing. Yet, if I run $ grep -c 'gamito' file It returns 1 which is right. The mind boggles. Does anyone ever had this problem or am I missing

cupsd takes 100% of cpu
I have never been able to get cups to work properly since CentOS 4.x (and am now on 5.2). When I try to "service start cups", cupsd immediately starts taking 100% of the cpu. Attaching strace to it shows no system calls happening. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling cups to get fresh config files. My printers.conf is empty. This is on a completely updated x86_64 CentOS 5.2

ADSL ppp0, persist
Hello guys, I have two ISP's connected to my router. One via eth2, second one via ADSL modem, with ppoe doing on my Centos 5 . The problem I have is, that when ADSL fails , interface ppp0 is removed. This also removes my static routes configured for this interface. I do not want that, as I have load balancing configured and default route is removed when ppp0 interface disapears. This is my

aDSL on ppp0 and dialin ppp
Hi all .... I Have installed Bering LRP on Many sites and I am very pleased with the capabilites of shorewall. Howerver I came across a prob that I am unaware ot its solution. Using shorewall 2.0.2f Kernel 2.4.24 On one Site LRP box serves internet outgoing connections through ( static IP ) a DSL line AND an incoming dial-in PPP conection. My shorewall configuration Is based upon the fact

Multi ISP ppp0 and ppp1 switching
Hi, I currently connect to my ISP via my adsl modem in bridge mode and PPPoE. I am due to put a second PPPoE ISP onto my firewall box which will give me ppp0 (general) and ppp1 (static leased line). The static leased line will run a number of services on its static IP and it is therefore imperative to make sure rules defined for the static line are assigned to the correct interface. I need this to

To ext3 developers
Hi... I've seen several posting regarding assertion failure (I also have that problem since rh 7.2 and 7.3!!). Is it a bug or something? This failure can happen although we have run fsck. The failure msg can sometimes just pop-up from the screen when the computer is idling. Sometimes low-level format needs to be done if we want to do reinstallation because otherwise during formatting the

adsl-setup (compaq presario sr5010nx)
I just bought a new cheap compaq presario sr5010nx and so far have been unable to get my dsl up and running on Centos5. pppoeconf on Ubuntu works just fine -- same machine -- same harddrive. I've run adsl-setup and system-config-network? (separately) numerous times without success. So far I suspect a missing driver but suppose it could also be a detection issue. Suggestions or workarounds

No adsl in dom0 - Fedora 7
Hi, I am having problems establishing an adsl connection in dom0 (but ONLY in dom0, without xen everything is ok). Following is my setup/situation: 1. Installed clean Fedora 7 (with virtualization option selected) 2. Booted with the non-xen kernel & setup adsl. Adsl connection works without any problems. 3. Rebooted with xen kernel into dom0. 4. adsl connection can no longer be activated

Help PLEASE...Multi-Routing for ADSL on Linux: Request for pointers..
Hi all I am a small business user running my IT infrastructure on Whitebox linux (RHEL3 clone), with ADSL connectivity with a static ip, using the ipcop firewall gateway (www.ipcop.org). I run my own web/mail server as my website usage is not much and I cannot afford to lease a dedicated server on the net, and leasing a shared server...I lose control. My DSL is prone to frequent outages and

Nothing against CentOS as a firewall, but you might consider a distro that is more focused as a plop'n drop "security applicance" distro: http://www.ipcop.org 4-zone segmentation (WAN, DMZ, LAN, WLAN) Integrated real-time and statistical logging, Snort IDS,

OT: routing between eth0 and ppp0 WITHOUT NAT
Sorry to post this here, but since last week I've posted to Fedora's mailing list, pptp-devel's list, and linuxgeneral forum. No one has given much for answers, or the people that have replied have not understood what I'm looking for. Hoping someone here can. For the record, I'm doing this on FC3 not CentOS. Anyway, if anyone can provide assistance I would be very appreciative.

Two ADSL lines with PPPoE in one server.
Hello, My system is: Server with Slackware 8.1 LINUX, ADSL Internet with PPPoE connection, and I masquerade my LAN. I use "Roaring Penguin" PPPoE client for my ADSL connection. I would like to connect another ADSL line (also PPPoE) to my server and have two lines, because I want to make "Simple source policy routing", as described in LARTC HOWTO. How should I set up my

PPPoE/ADSL configuration questions.
I am building a CentOS 5 box to ship to Houston which will be a gateway system on an SBC DSL connection for a while until the client gets a T1 installed. I have read up on using adsl-setup and related software, but never done PPPoE on anything but LinkSys commodity boxes. I have examined the adsl-setup script, and I think I understand how this works, but want to be sure I understand things

PPPoE w/ "static" /29 ip range, how is it done?
Hello everyone, I hope this is on-topic for the list... I''m familiar with NAT, but I can''t see how to route a fully routed LAN. My new ISP has given me a /29 (I understand this to be 6 addresses + network address + broadcast address) which I would like to use, as multiple PCs here want to use p2p and games at the same time, and reconfiguring the port forwarding all the time

masquerade and mac problem
Hello guys I don''t know if this thing has been posted before (if it was , please forgive me). I have 7 computers at home and I want all of them to have access to the internet. In order to do that , I set up a linux router (2 network cards) as a usual router (eth0 : 82.77.69.75 - internet connection ; eth1 : 192.168.10.1 - local network) . The other computers have ips ranging from

RFC3389 messages with ATA 186
I'm getting some warnings: NOTICE[xxx]: File rtp.c, Line 264 (process_rfc3389): RFC3389 support incomplete. Turn off on client if possible Asterisk Version: CVS-01/06/04-13:50:26 Cisco ATA 186 version: v3.0.0 atasip (Build 031210A) Is this something I should be concerned about? Anyone know how to "turn off" the RFC3389 support on the ata 186? Thanks!
