"Desc " failed, does it exist? error
I am getting the following Runtime error when I first log onto my
application:
"Desc " failed, does it exist? error
Notice the space after Desc...not a typo...it appears it is losing
tablename somehow when attempting the Desc. Once I refresh the browser,
the page comes up fine.
I found information regarding Ticket #11134...however the error still
persists after applying the changes

ORACLE DESC "table_name" Failure
I am getting "DESC CYCLEMSTR" failed; does it exist?
errors on a table named CYCLEMSTR in Oracle every 3 out of 4 trys to
do a simple find(:all) on the table.
It is a legacy table that only contains 12 rows of join information.
I don''t understand why it works one out of every 4 or 5 times

Mongrel Pre-Release 0.3.13 -- Katana Suicide Concurrency
We are *days* away from the official 0.3.13 release, which will be
followed quickly by 0.4 code named Enterprisey Edition 1.2. This latest
pre-release update closes off the last of the annoying bugs, and adds
one very nasty feature people should check out before we release. Read
about Katanas below.

"ORA-12154: TNS:..." error after successful oracle connection
Hi,
After a few days of struggling, I was able to run this command
successfully.
ruby -r oci8 -e "OCI8.new(''xxx_dba'', ''xxx'', ''//xxxx:1521/
xxxxx.xxx.org'').exec(''SELECT 1 from dual'') {|r| puts r.join}"
I got "1.0" as output and I got my prompt back.
So, I went back to the RoR app that I am working on,

Mongrel 0.3.13.4 Pre-Release -- Ruby's LEAK Fixed (Death To Mutex!)
Howdy Folks,
This release is after painstaking analysis of a memory leak that was
reported by Bradley Taylor, reduced by myself, and then fixed after much
work. You should all thank Bradley for finding the bizarre fix.
It turns out the Ruby has a memory leak when you use pretty much any
thread locking primitive other than Sync (Mutex, Monitor, etc.):

Upgrading from Mongrel 1.0.1 and Mongrel cluster 0.2.1
I am considering upgrading to either Mongrel 1.1.1 or 1.0.4, and
Mongrel-cluster to 1.0.5. Are there any gotchas or issues I need to be aware
of? Also where can I find the release notes for the various releases? (The
ones I found seem very sparse).
Thanks,
Brian

Rails, ActionController::Base.allow_concurrency and mongrel
Hello all,
Are you aware of the rails ActionController::Base.allow_concurrency option ?
If this option is true, rails is able to process simultaneous multiples
actions.
It appears that rails is thread-safe (if the user application is), and
that this option is mostly unknown.
Webrick take care of this option in rails-1.1.2/lib/webrick_server.rb at

Mongrel Web Server 0.3.12.3 -- Thread Tracking and Debugging
Hello Everyone,
Mongrel is getting closer and closer to being a rock solid release. My goal
is to release 0.4 as "production ready" by Canada on Rails. Please report
any problems or suggestions you have. There won''t be any major features or
improvements just fixes and code reviews to repair any found bugs or
security concerns.

oci8 problems
I feel stupid having to ask this, but I haven''t found an answer. I
installed ruby-oci8 in order to load data from an oracle db into postgres
(part of a jsp to rails conversion). In order to run my ruby script I know
I need to set ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables to get
it to work (and it does work).
I''ve tried setting ENV[''ORACLE_HOME'']

Software caused connection abort
Hi Zed or anyone that is also looking at Mongrel,
Just want to report something that, although doesn''t crash mongrel, is
rather annoying.
I am running the latest Mongrel 0.3.13.3 - ruby version on cygwin
(yeah, poor me). When I start mongrel_rails with
ActiveRecord::Base.allow_concurrency = true in environment.rb, I see a

Auto-installing Gems via boot.rb causes errors under Mongrel
Hi,
I''m trying to make my Rails app auto-install my required gems, by
invoking the gem installation in boot.rb. I''ll use the ActionMailer
gem as an example:
...
system "sudo gem install actionmailer --version=1.2.5 -y"
...
Problem is that this fails on the first invocation of Mongrel - it
can''t find the gem. However, if I kill and restart mongrel (with the

Mongrel and Mongrel Cluster Library LoadErrors
Hello,
I''m a noobie to Rails and even more to mongrel. I have an issue with
one server that I''ve installed mongrel. Its a Fedora Core 5 box, and
it is having problems loading the Oracle OCI8 libraries. However,
this only occurs when I use mongrel_cluster, or mongrel with out the -
d switch. I have no problem using the library from the commandline
and with Webrick or

mongrel cluster issues, plain old mongrel OK
I just created a test rails app, and am having very wierd issues with
mongrel cluster. Here''s what I''m doing:
rails test
sudo chown -R mongrel:mongrel test
cd test
sudo mongrel_rails \
cluster::configure -e production \
-p 8000 -N 3 -a 127.0.0.1 --user mongrel \
--group mongrel
It correctly writes the mongrel_cluster.yml file to the config
directory. Now,

mongrel cluster mysteriously stopping when using shared FS
Hi,
I have a number of servers running mongrel cluster all of whom feed off
of a shared filesystem (OCFS2). Each cluster has its own
mongrel_cluster_web2.yml file with distinct PID and Log file names. In
theory they shouldn''t be aware of each other''s presence.
What I have found is that when I want to test a new set of code on one
server and I shut just that mongrel cluster

mongrel cluster (+ Apache 2.2.4 + proxy balancer) not redirecting correctly
I''m in the process of setting up a mongrel cluster at the moment, and I''m
running into a bit of an issue. Even worse is that I''m not sure whether
this is a mongrel thing, or an Apache thing. While I''m inclined to think
that this might be a balancer thing, I decided there was a higher chance
hearing back from mongrel-users than from apache-users, so I''d
