inserted_at seems buggy in production mode?
Hi, I''ve got a table with an inserted_at column. When I insert a record it automatically injects the current date/time, all is well. Then when I insert a second record, it uses the exact same timestamp that is used in the first record. This behavior only seems to occur in production mode. When I restart the server, the problem goes away but then immidetatly occurs again on the

Help with Rails and postgres with sequence numbers (global?)
Hello, I am building an Rails applications that has to integrate an legacy system (lxoffice) (schema at: http://www.lx-office.org/uploads/media/DB_Schema_2.1.1_R_393_17_03_2005_.pdf). They somehow use global ids (global for some tables). I can not change the schema and still I want to use Rails to access it and not pure SQL. When I try to insert a record I get the following message:

Storing passwords encrypted... bcrypt?
Hi everyone, Was just perusing this article about how trivial it is to decrypt passwords that are stored using most (standard) encryption methods (like MD5), and was wondering - is it possible to use bcrypt with dovecot+postfix+mysql (or posgres)? -- Best regards, Charles

initial scrambling of seed in do_setseed / RNG_Init
I would like to suggest a modification of initial scrambling of the seed in RNG_Init (called from do_setseed). The modified code is equivalent, but faster. Hello. When trying to sort a folder by thread (with pine4.61), I get a sig11. The mailstore is Maildir, indexes stored in /var/indexes/%u. The syslog on the server shows this: Nov 29 11:37:55 olan dovecot: IMAP(kowalski): Corrupted index cache file /var/indexes/kowalski/.INBOX/dovecot.index.cache: record points outside file Nov 29 11:37:56 olan dovecot: child 14344 (imap) killed with signal 11

Generating samples from truncated multivariate Student-t distribution
Dear Members, I am working with 6-dimensional Student-t distribution with 4 degrees of freedom truncated to [20; 60]. I have generated 100 000 samples from truncated multivariate Student-t distribution using rtmvt function from package ?tmvtnorm?. I have also calculated mean vector using equation (3) from attached pdf. The problem is, that after summing all elements in one column of rtmvt result

D-bus integration
Dear OpenSSH developers, I was looking at the fail2ban project and had an idea that instead of parsing log files it could be possible to notify interested parties (like fail2ban) via (for instance) D-bus about a failed login attempt. Other application could also use this protocol to notify about suspect behaviors. A central functionality will allow for other (new) projects to integrate

migration to maildir and arrival time
Hello. I am currently testing dovecot (0.99.10.8, Debian woody from backports), with the maildir storage. I have noticed that when I use the mailutil tool from uw-imap distribution to transfer my IMAP mailboxes from our current server (uw-imap, mbx format) to the dovecot one, the mails arrival time are apparently lost. I can see this in Pine, using the Arrival sort: the mailboxes on the

Instance variables versus local variables
This novice coder roughly understands the difference between instance and local variables thanks to David Black''s excellent book, but I''m still unclear as to when and why a either is more desirable to use. In general, I use instance variables in my controller and local in my views, but I''m not sure as to why or if this is correct. Thanks Joe Kowalski

Problems finding information on passwd-file
I've recently converted over to dovecot to uw-imap, and am having a heck of a time trying to find actual docs that describe how to set up virtual users properly without using ldap or posgres.. Basically I need to know what goes in auth_userdb and auth_passdb for a system with *NO* local user accounts in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow. I will only create mbox files for these users in /var/mail/%u

using win32 DLLs in Linux
Hello, I have a win32 DLL library, which I can't decompile, and can't get it's source code, but which I'd like to use in my Linux program. I wondered about making a win32<->Linux interface to use this library, using ready-to-use wine libraries. Is it possible, using wine libraries, to have access to functions from this DLL? If yes, can you tell me how? Thank you in

proxy, managesieve and ssl?
Hello, On a dovecot 2.0.14 proxy, I found that proxying managesieve works well when using 'starttls' option in pass_attrs, but does not work when using 'ssl' option. The backend server is also dovecot 2.0.14; when using the ssl option, it reports "no auth attempts" in the logs about managesieve-login, and meanwhile the MUA, Thunderbird with sieve plugin, reports

barrier and commit options?
Hello, On my home server (Debian etch, custom 2.6.28.2 kernel), I am using ext3 for both root and /home filesystems, with barriers enabled to prevent corruption caused by my PATA disk write cache. Looking for a better performance, I have also set the commit=nr option as described in linux-2.6.28.2/Documentation/filesystems/ext3.txt, so that I now have: niko at petole:~$ mount -t ext3
