rCalendar Project
Railoholic-Anonymous Members:
I am tooling around with the idea of forming a project which would
create a calendar plugin/engine with the following features:
1. DB schema mapping all necessary iCal (RFC-2445) fields.
2. Probably utilizing either vpim (vpim.rubyforge.net), or iCalendar
(icalendar.rubyforge.net). (First choice would be vpim since some
attendee functionality requires vcard

Timezone support?
This is a follow-up to the thread ending with:
http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/vpim-talk/2008/000120.html
I too am in search of some ruby parser for icalendar which properly handles
timezones on the datetimes in the icalendar RFC.
As I understand it there are actually three types of times.
1) UTC times with a string form of yyyymmddThhmmssZ
note the trailing Z indicates zulu time aka utc.
2)

Bank holidays read from file?
Hi. Thanks for the idea for calendar, it sounds better. i did not manage to
make it work though. i am running debian 8 32 bit with asterisk 11.25.3. I
have installed the packages libneon27-dev & libical-dev then in
/etc/asterisk the file calendar.conf has the following entries:
[Gcalendar]
type=caldav

How to set TZID in DTSTART?
Hello all,
I am currently evaluating the vpim libraries and like them very much.
However there''s one thing I can''t get done: How can I set the TZID
parameter for DTSTART/END dates so my encoded ICS file looks
something like this:
BEGIN:VEVENT
...
DTSTART;TZID=Eastern Time:20071201T080000
DTEND;TZID=Eastern Time:20071207T110000
...
END:VEVENT

Field#to_text
We''re using Vpim to parse iCal and vCard files, and so far it''s been
great. However, when we were parsing some iCal files we noticed that
all the endlines in the description section were disappearing. I start
peering through the source code and find (in the Field#to_text method
that is being called):
# The value as text. Text can have escaped newlines, commas, and escape

ruby on rails web calendar
Does anyone know of a good web calendar that you can use to display
appointments, dates, anniversaries, birthdays, recurring appointments,
appointments spanning multiple days?

All Day Events
I must be stupid because this cannot be this hard.
I''m trying to build an all day calendar event. In most clients it shows up as an entry at the top of the day rather than blocking out the whole day with an event.
I have a bit of code that looks like this...
cal.event do
dtstart DateTime.parse("#{startDate.year()}-#{startDate.month()}-#{startDate.day()}")
dtend

Custom Validator
I want to add a custom validator in one of Model. For example Rails has
inbuilt validation methods like validates_uniqueness_of,
validates_presence_of . What I need is a similar kind of method
(example: validates_line_items), that can run my custom code while
saving, updating the record and can add custom error messages to the
record. Please help me by suggesting how i can do this.

Creating sub actions
Hi,
So finally I have also decided to roll my engines on Rails. But I am
kind of stuck in a situation. I understand that for every model there is
a controller class. This controller class has cirtain set of methods
where each method defines cirtain action to be performed. And each of
this action renders cirtain UI.

Now let say I have a object "Car". Apart from

Scheduling Plugin
Hi,
We are looking for a calendar scheduling solution that supports
recurring events.
Some specific requirements are that we need to be able to setup
recurring events, then modify one of those events on a certain day by
deleting it for example.
Basically, we want the back end for a Google Calender type
functionality.
Ive dug around in GitHub and there are tons of recurring plugins but not

integration of tzinfo with icalendar
My interest in icalendar is more on the ical generation side instead of
the ical parsing side. As such, I did a bit of work on a tzinfo mixin
that will generate the timezone rules based on the tzinfo gem. This
lets you do the following:
estart = DateTime.new(2008, 12, 29, 8, 0, 0)
eend = DateTime.new(2008, 12, 29, 11, 0, 0)
tstring = "America/Chicago"

Icalendar.Parse(StringIO.new(aString)) complains about missing method, bytesize
I need to send an ics file to a web service, so however it gets there it
will arrive as a string. Is there another way to begin Icalendar''s Parse
than with a file?
I''m currently sending the file using the curl command...
curl -v --data-urlencode ics at invite.ics http://127.0.0.1:4567/ics2event
I''ve tried curl''s --data-binary and sinatra''s

Cambridge LLVM Social, May 25th
This Cambridge social will be next week, Wed 25th, 7:30 pm, at the
Cambridge Blue.
Some people mentioned the need for a different pub. I'm all ears. In
case of no replies, the Blue it is. :)
When in doubt, check the calendar before leaving home.

webcal url
Hi
I''d like to create a webcal link to share a calendar with iCal like
it''s done in Basecamp for example.
I know how to create the file using icalendar ruby library and iCal
can open it, but if I send this file using an url like webcal://
localhost:3000/ical/1151495837
iCal says that data are not valid.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
PS here is my rb code
