to "loop through" the instance variables of ActiveRecord?
to wrap each instance variable of an ActiveRecord object between "<td>" and "</td>", is there a way to "loop through" them, at least in the debug mode, no matter there is getter methods to get them or not, or at least the ones with the getter methods? Such as <% @stories.each do |s| %> <%= "<tr>" %> <% s.each_property

vestal_versions -- can I set it to ignore certain columns?
I''d like my published boolean to be excluded from the calculation as to whether a version is created or not. Can anyone suggest a way to do that? Added associations but don't see generated methods
Hi, I''ve got a Rails app working that includes two two classes, etc.: Expense & Vendor. I eventually learned that the mental concept I had of their relationship should be express in Rails as: class Expense < ActiveRecord::Base; belongs_to :vendor; end class Vendor < ActiveRecord::Base; has_many :expenses; end

SQL injection with :order, :limit, :group
I know how to avoid SQL injection attacks when you use :conditions User.find :first, :conditions => ["login=?", params[:username]] but how about with :order, :limit or :group? # uh-oh...spaghetti-oh User.find :first, :order => "login; delete from users; select * from users" Pat --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you

Repost - Do dynamic finders work with legacy schemas?
Hello everyone, I have another question related to a legacy schema I am working with. Do dynamic finders work with legacy schemas in general? The schema I am working with uses hungarian prefixes for column names. For example fOpen is 0 if a bug is closed and 1 if it is open (type smallint). When I try @bugs = Bug.find_all_by_fOpen(1), I get the following exception: undefined method

ActiveRecord Unexplainable SystemStackError - Only in WEBrick
This SystemStackError is driving me crazy. It only takes place when testing with WEBrick - I can''t reproduce it with any tests. It is caused by calling the "missing" id method (base.rb:2435) on my ActiveRecord class. WEBrick and my tests are running as the same user, with a `ulimit -s` of 10240. Plus the query works sometimes so I don''t think this matters.

multiple database in the same actions?
Hi, I read the example in http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/HowtoUseMultipleDatabases, it show us how to connect to other database, each time we start a new action, however, this doesn''t work while you try to connect to two different database within the same action. SO I wonder is it possible to bind to two or more database within the same action???? Thanks you very much Saiho

Define column names to a series of data.frames
Greets to the list! I am aware that this topic has been discussed several times. And I've read quite some related posts [1]. Yet, can't seem to give a solution to my problem. I have 6 data frames consisting of 6 rows x 7 columns put together from other data.frames. Something like: a b c d e f g v1 # # # # # # # v2 # # # # # # # v3 # # # # # # # v4 # # # # # # # v5 # # # # # # # v6

'unknow column error' when using include and associated table condition in find
Here is my weird problem. Two models like following: Lexeme id:int name:string Structure id:int ref_id:string meta_id:int Lexeme can have many structure records through foreign key ''ref_id'' in the structures table. And these structure records belonging to one lexeme differs between each other using meta_id. And if Lexeme has structures, then there must be a top_struct whose

validation in a "subform"
I''ve been following the rails/osx tutorial at http://developer.apple.com/tools/rubyonrails.html This develops a simple application with expenses and accounts. Near the end of the tutorial, there is a view which allows expenses to be added to an account. This view has the "parent" @account rendered, then iterates throught @account.expenses to display the existing accounts,

Multiple Model Validation
Hey All ! I have a form which contains two models. I would like both models to be validated, but have their validations aggregated on the page. If I do: <%= error_messages_for(:model1) %> <%= error_messages_for(:model2) %> It puts two big validation blocks on the page. I would like all the errors from both models, but only in one validation box. Is this possible ? All my attempts

Mixing html tags and Ruby blocks
I''m trying to get the following idea to work: <%= @column_names.each { |t| <td> t.downcase </td> <td> @listing.send(t.downcase)</td> } %> Essentially I want to display a form that has a left and right TD, with the left TD being a column name and the right TD being the column data.
