Major problems with 2.0.7 and SATA drives
Hello everyone, I''m hoping to find an answer to my problem here. Currently I''m installing xen 2.0.7 on 30 dual opteron machines with 4GB memory. The machines have Tyan K8SR as motherboard with Silicon Image 3114 chip sata controler and 2 x 300 GB Western Digital SATA drives. Each xen server has 5 domUs, where some of them have high traffic and thus require high disk usage.

EXT3-fs error on 2.6.0-test7-bk4 (and -test9)
ext3 is having big problems on my x86-64 system. An ext3 partition has just gone crazy, with the following messages in dmesg: EXT3-fs error (device hda3): ext3_readdir: bad entry in directory #4603905: rec_len % 4 != 0 - offset=0, inode=2507704792, rec_len=42, name_len=0 Aborting journal on device hda3. ext3_abort called. Intermittent ext3 corruption on external firewire Micronet 1.5Tb RAID on FC3
Hi I have a Firewire connected Micronet 1.5TB RAID with a single large ext3 filesystem on one partition on a dual Xeon system. I am checking out from an extremely large cvs repository (don't ask) to this drive over the course of many days, and intermittently I get bad blocks and the filesystem goes read-only. This is not related to any power failure or anything similar. The RAID is currently

EXT3-fs error
Hello friends, I am experiencing some weird beheaviour on one of my computers. I appologize for the laconic subject, but I really don't know anything more than that. I'll tell the story in chronological order. I have an HP server with five SCSI disks. The disks are _not_ in RAID. I installed FC2 on one disk. I installed a 2.6.11.7 and used it for boot. The server runs some software

EXT3 fs error on RAID1 device
Hi all. I have a Dell SC440 running Centos 4.4. It has two 500GB disks in a RAID1 array using linux software raid (md1 is / and md0 is /boot). Recently the root file system was remounted read-only for some reason. The logs don't show anything unusual, presumably the file system was read-only before anythng was logged. Running dmesg showed this error repeated many times: EXT3-fs error (device

Root filesystem is suddenly mounted read-only
This is very strange. Everything was running fine Friday night. This morning I walk into work and find that my root file system (which is actually the only filesystem besides /boot) is not writable. Yet mount thinks it's mounted read/write: # mount /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 on / type ext3 (rw) [snip] # touch foo touch: cannot touch `foo': Read-only file

btrfs raid1 on 16TB goes read-only after "btrfs: block rsv returned -28"
Dear Devs, I have x4 4TB HDDs formatted with: mkfs.btrfs -L bu-16TB_0 -d raid1 -m raid1 /dev/sd[cdef] /etc/fstab mounts with the options: noatime,noauto,space_cache,inode_cache All on kernel 3.8.13. Upon using rsync to copy some heavily hardlinked backups from ReiserFS, I''ve seen: The following "block rsv returned -28" is repeated 7 times until there is a call trace

Geany plugins out of sync
I'm intending to do some version control, hence looking for some plugins. Geany and geany-plugins packages in Rpmforge seem to be out of sync: Name : geany-plugins Arch : i386 Version : 0.18 Release : 1.el5.rf Name : geany Arch : i386 Version : 0.19.1 Release : 1.el5.rf When both are installed, geany claims that plugins are not

Server Setup Advice
Hello Everybody! I am currently setting up an Asterisk server for medium to high load (approximately 20-35 concurrent phone lines). Do you think the following specs will sufficiently satisfy this system? CPU: XeonQC3220 2.4GHZ 8M RAM: 2X2GB/800 Harddrive: 1X250GB I could add harddrives and partition them into /var and /log directories to help with diskdrive throughput. Thanks! Elliot

/var goes read-only
This is an issue that I have been having with one of our production servers for a couple of months, just out of no where /var goes to read only. There aren't any errors that show up in /var/log/messages nor dmesg, I checked to make sure that the drives on error option is set to continue and there isn't anything as far as I can tell wrong with the disks. Also there is plenty of disk space.

[PATCH] Btrfs: pass lockdep rwsem metadata to async commit transaction
The freeze rwsem is taken by sb_start_intwrite() and dropped during the commit_ or end_transaction(). In the async case, that happens in a worker thread. Tell lockdep the calling thread is releasing ownership of the rwsem and the async thread is picking it up. Josef and I worked out a more complicated solution that made the async commit thread join and potentially get a later transaction, but

Problems With Booting CentOS on Dell T7910
Hello! Does anyone have any experience with installing CentOS 6 (specfically, 6.8), on a Dell T7910? I've tried at least a dozen installs, everything gets configured, and when I have the system reboot, I get 'No boot device found press any key to reboot the machine'. In BIOS, I've enabled AHCI, Legacy boot and modes, and enabled the SAS controller. The disks are seen and

HDD badblocks
Hi list, I've a notebook with C7 (1511). This notebook has 2 disk (640 GB) and I've configured them with MD at level 1. Some days ago I've noticed some critical slowdown while opening applications. First of all I've disabled acpi on disks. I've checked disk for badblocks 4 consecutive times for disk sda and sdb and I've noticed a strange behaviour. On sdb there are

PROBLEM: log abort over RAID5
Several people already reported this at linux-kernel and elsewhere with no answers, I thought perhaps this would be a more adequate forum... [1.] One line summary of the problem: After I/O, journal is aborted and filesystems made read-only. [2.] Full description of the problem/report: One can't anymore write to the affected file systems. Upon investigation, ext3fs journal was aborted
