I want to shaping FTP traffic.
Dear. folks I want to shaping FTP traffic. I can get following information from Stef Coene's Homepage, www.docom.org. "Ftp uses random ports, so matching the data traffic is not easy. However it can done if you use iptables to mark ftp-data packets and use that mark with the fw filter. For more info see http://home.regit.org/connmark.html. " General information about the conntrack

Yikes! Routing issues!
We switched over from a bordermanager firewall to a shorewall firewall. Some stuff is not working now. I realized that I had not created the route for the network that is not working however once I created it, it still didn''t work. Most of our network is fine however some pieces are not working. [Net] - [Shorewall] - [LAN] - [Cisco] - [Clients and servers not working] The firewall

Domains: Pros and Cons?
I have Samba running without a PDC and I have some questions about the advantages for implementing one with Samba vs. the problems and disadvantages. Perhaps some kind souls can help me determine whether I should do this or not. We have three offices connected by a Checkpoint VPN, plus people "on the road" using their SecureClient tool. We want everyone to be able to get to all the

Slow MS Access database after upgrade to Samba3
Hi, I had a Debian woody server with samba as PDC with LDAP backend in the same box, and mixed windows clients (98, XP, etc). The clients accessed a 75MB MS Access database (.mdb) that was put in a Samba share. Everything was fast... everything was good... But, last week I decided to upgrade to debian Sarge, so as you know Samba was upgraded to Samba3 too (3.0.14a), and now if a user tries to

Domain trusts with W2003 and SAMBA 3.0.33 on RHEL
I'm trying to establish a two way non-transitive trust between a W2003 A/D box and our SAMBA domain. We are using smbldap so we can log in on any of the linux boxes with the same passwd. Samba is version 3.0.33 on Redhat Enterprise. It's easy to create the trust on the Windows side with AD Domains and Trusts but on the Linux side I'm not sure if I need to put the machine account

Ethernet card addr <-> IP
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hi everyone - Someone I''m working with has a requirement to map ethernet card addresses to unique IP addresses, and then have a Linux IP masquerade server know of this mapping list and not allow any data to pass from any ethernet card that a) it doesn''t know about, or b) isn''t assigned the right IP. Ideally it would also log this

Slow Access Database on Samba
Dear All, We have an access database running on a Samba share (Samba version 3.0.10-1.4E) with a gigabit connection to the network. The front end of the databases are on the client machines with linked tables stored in a separate mdb file on the linux server. For some reason the database runs very slowly when it is set up in this way. I tested copying a 10 MB file onto the samba share and it

Failure to move object from one site to another
Hi There, We use samba4 for a while now and i've always been able to move a machine from the default-first-site-name to a newly created site but since the recent version (sadly i don't now exactly which) but for sure with 4.0.13, 4.1.3 and 4.1.4 that became impossible. Resulting in a crashing AD Sites and Services application and a crash in samba4 (need to restart samba4 to be able to

INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in pid (kdc gone)
Hi There, We are getting INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in pid on multiple different servers (Debian Wheezy, using Samba 4.0.13 and 4.1.3, using kernel 3.2.0-4 and 3.11.6-2), the outcome is always the same. The group policies can no longer be applied to the clients until a Samba4 restart. The locations with these issues do have in common that they have multiple Samba4 DC's although i am not
