gsub issue with consecutive pattern finds
Here's another *incorrect* way to do it -- incorrect because it will
not always work, unlike Iris's correct solution. But it does not
require PERL type matching. The idea: separate the two vowels in the
regex by a character that you know cannot appear (if there is such)
and match it optionally, e.g. with '*" repetition specifier. I used
"?" for the optional character

gsub issue with consecutive pattern finds
Hi Iago,
This is not a bug. It is expected. Patterns may not overlap. However, there
is a way to get the result you want using perl:
```R
gsub("([aeiouAEIOU])(?=[aeiouAEIOU])", "\\1_", "aerioue", perl = TRUE)
```
The specific change I made is called a positive lookahead, you can read
more about it here:

gsub issue with consecutive pattern finds
Hi all,
I tested next command:
gsub("([aeiouAEIOU])([aeiouAEIOU])", "\\1_\\2", "aerioue")
with the following output:
[1] "a_eri_ou_e"
So, there are two consecutive vowels where an underscore is not added.
May it be a bug? Is it expected (bug or not)? Is there any chance to get
what I want (an underscore between each pair of consecutive vowels)?

Repeated factor levels - inconsistency of factor and levels<- functions?
Hello,
I have a vector x containing letters ("a", "b" etc.). Now I want to
convert it to factor and group some letters into one common level. If I do
it by factor function, giving the same label names for all values I want
to group, it doesn't work:

text vector clustering
Hi,
I am a new user of R using R 2.8.1 in windows 2003. I have a csv file with
single column which contain the 30,000 students names. There were typo
errors while entering this student names. The actual list of names is <
1000. However we dont have that list for keyword search.
I am interested in grouping/cluster these names as those which are
similar letter to letter. Are there any

Preprocessing and Echo Cancellation Notes.
First, I'd just like to thank the Speex community, and Jean-Marc
especially, for their great work.
I'm developing a VoIP library (which uses IAX, the asterisk protocol)
as the network protocol. I've been putting off integrating Speex for a
while, as things have been working pretty well so far with GSM. (for
those interested, the code is at iaxclient.sourceforge.net).

How to use Oniguruma in ruby 1.9.2?
Hello Guys ,
Can anyone explain me how to use Oniguruma in ruby 1.9.2 , I guess in
ruby 1.9.2 its a default library so there is no need to install
externally?
I was using Oniguruma::ORegexp.new( in ruby 1.8.7 .
Thanks
Nishant

IDWT - Inverse Discrete Wavelet Transform
Hello,
I am not expert in wavelet.
i am working with a discrete dataset in 3D. I applied the D4 wavelet
transform to each dimension sequentially. I made some analysis in the
transformed space and i detected some interesting vowel.
My question is. How is it possible to map a 3d coordinate in the transformed
space to the related coordinate in the 3d original dataset? (i think that

non ascill characters in plots. no alternative but plotmath?
A student entered some data with text characters like epsilon and
alpha. On her Windows system, the Greek letters did not display
properly in a plot. There were some ordinary ASCII instead.
I asked her to send me the code so I could test. For me, the plot
looks ok on the screen.

de-essing into speex?
are there plans to add "de-essing" as part of the speexenc procedure,
to make it possible to use lower quality compression without getting
those horrible computer-like "ess" sounds in the finished result?
like if you say "someone said the sun is shining", there is a lot of
ess sounds, and these will sound "computer-ish" at vbr qualities below

Hi,
Here is a patch that adds the possibility of displaying key fingerprints
in the bubblebabble format used by ssh.com ssh implementations.
I hope it makes its way into the source.
