Apoligies but what is the status of the Agile book?
Borders show it has to be ordered but Amazon says they have it but
don''t show any reviews so what exactly is the true availability of the
second edition?

what is proper way to load lookup/reference data into test database?
I''m just getting into writing tests for my first RoR app. I''ve got a
few data migrations to load reference data (i.e. 2-char state abbrevs,
payment types, etc.). How do I get that data into the test database?
I understand fixtures are to load test data. But if I duplicate these
lookup tables in test fixtures, it seems like that is violating the
DRY principle. Is that OK in

tell me what the app is? I''m actually looking for a Linux version.

What happened to _form.rhtml partial in rails 2.0??
Just wondering if anyone could point me to a good explanation of why
the latest way of doing things does not include using something like
_form.html.erb partials in RESTful rails 2.0?? Why did we move away
from partials, etc??

validates_uniqueness_of not working - urgent
I''m using restful_authentication to let users register and login.
Lately, however, I''m seeing multiple login and emails being created
even though I have validates_uniqueness_of as below:
user.rb
validates_uniqueness_of :login, :email, :case_sensitive => false
mysql> select id, login, email, created_at, state from users;

I''m sending mails to a rails app, and I''m having a weird issue
fetching the email.from header.
I will paste the whole email and show what email.from returns.

abstract_class... what exactly does it do
Hi,
Does anyone know much about abstract_class? Does it actually prevent
instances of the class from being created? Does it disable certain
methods? I already know what it''s for, but I want to know what setting
self.abstract_class=true actually does.
The reason I ask is that I want to use it for a slightly unorthodox
purpose. I want a class who''s only attributes are its

Builder::XmlMarkup and dashes
Has anyone hacked Builder::XmlMarkup to dasherize underscore tags by
default? I know I can use tag!, but I''d like to find a way for it to
translate underscores to dashes automatically. In other words:
xml.department_manager do
"fred
end
#=> <department-manager>fred</department-manager>
I tried hacking Builder::XmlBase.method_missing but got myself all
twisted up!

getting error Unknown method 'new' for a new model instance
I have a model called Test. In the controller I have @circuit =
Test.new. Any ideas why rails is complaining about the ''new'' method??

I need Rails Developers!
Hey, first of all I will like to thank you all for reading this since
I am a new user, this really looks like the place to meet the right
kind of people interested in Ruby on Rails.
I represent an Web 2.0 Development Center in Monterrey, Mexico and we
really need RoR developers for full time on site work and part time
distance projects.
You don''t need to know Spanish, all you need is some

Interface for administration
Hi *, I need to choose a platform for building the administrative
part of http://www.zooppa.com
Actually I like both streamlined and activescaffold, they seem both
good.
I''d like to ask to people using it which one is more likely to manage
correctly things like validations, polymorphic associations, STI and
in general complex data.
If it''s also easy to modify it would

problem validating uniqueness
I have validates_uniqueness_of :name in my model which works fine when
creating a record but doesn''t work when I edit the record. In other
words it won''t let me create a record with the same name but I can go
in after and update the field without a problem. Why would this
happen? -Mike
